Best Decision Ever!

I absolutely LOVE my Roku3. It saves all kinds of money and I don't have to worry about recording anything. Just about everything is right there at my fingertips when I need it. The additional channels like PBS and live streaming networks are what we've all been waiting for. Couldn't be more pleased to not be at the mercy of a cable company.

I was a bit skeptical about this device. I use it for netflix and plex. For this purpose it works flawlessly. Picture quality is a mazing and there is no buffering in pled with 1080p video. Great media player!!!!

I bought this about a month ago and am extremely happy with the performance of it. It was very easy to set up and use and the volume of choices of TV shows, movies, etc., is phenomenal.

Next-best thing to a TV-connected 'puter

I bought a Roku 3 for my 83-year-old mother-in-law, who's unable to grasp the concept of a 'puter-connected-to-a-PC, or the idea of "streaming media," and who needed something that looked and acted like "cable" (her words) and was brain-dead easy to use. The Roku is all that, and easy to set up, too. The content options are not as rich in the Roku world as they are with my Mac Minis-connected-to-HMDI-TVs-and-a-SiliconDust-IP-HDTV-box, and I spend more money in Roku-land, but if you want couch-potato-easy, and every-reality-TV-show-in-the-universe at your fingertips, Roku is a superior option.

Streaming Off The Internet

A longtime fan of her L.A. radio show, I wanted to view The Stephanie Miller Show on FreeSpeechTV-- a ROKU channel. So I bought a ROKU because my cable provider doesn't carry FreeSpeechTV. All I need is the Internet and a ROKU. I'm spoiled by the video quality of HD, and some channels still fill less than my TV screen (FreeSpeechTV). But this is the only downside I can find with my ROKU; everything else always ends up in the plus column.

Leverage the value of what you have

The Roku 3 delivers on its promises. Easy setup, user friendly, good range of channel selections, good product quality--unobtrusive and it works. It leverages the value of existing cable service and makes many smart TV’s that much smarter. For cable/satellite subscribers the HBO Go channel is a good way to extend or leverage the value of your existing service quickly and easily. Max G0 and Show Time Anytime (not limited to Showtime Preview) would be good channel additions to further leverage the value.
The only reservation I have is lack of a Toslink optical digital output port. Many HDTV’s do not pass through Dolby surround to their digital outputs for any input source other than broadcast TV and many home theater systems lack HDMI inputs. A Toslink digital out direct from future Roku models would maintain backward compatibility and resolve this issue without the user needing to purchase a HDMI to digital audio converter for true 5.1/7.1 audio vs. simulated surround sound. Despite this one issue the Roku 3 is a great product and I would recommend it; for both those who want to cut cable and for those wanting to leverage the value of the cable they’re already paying for.

Easy set up and very affordable

I am not very "tetchy" but was impressed on how easy it was for me to set up. I thought I was going to have to purchase an expensive piece of hardware to allow me to stream videos and movies. My roku3 is what I needed and also has additional features if I wish to use them. Thank you.
