great features and clarity

I bought this about 2 months ago and I am very satisfied with it. It has made my life convenient to lay in bed and watch shows and movies without the hassle of a expensive cable bill.

WE gave this to our granddaughter for Christmas and she loves it. She has so many choices on shows and movies. It is very convenient and so easy to use. WE have not had any problems and recommend this product.

I bought the ROKU at Christmas. It has truly been a plug and play unit. I especially appreciate the easy access to YouTube, but the other program choices are also easy to use and navigate.

FAST!

This was a Christmas gift for my wife. We did not have cable television before this but were interested in a few shows, as she has Amazon Prime. The unit is fast, the content is good, and we have not had any problems. The unit challenges us to "discover" shows since some of the channels do not offer all shows under the sun. This has been a gratifying experience.

Roku 3 as a gift

I purchased the Roku 3 as a Christmas present for my wife to take advantage of the availability of streaming videos, particularly of b&w musicals.
I was first surprised by the small size of the unit. It was very easy to install, first to a standalone TV as a wireless connection to my Verizon router. The final installation was to my a/v receiver and surround sound system. The system works flawlessly. It was easy to go through Roku's website, review the channels available and select the ones that were of interest. Using the update feature of my Roku, the newly chosen channels were immediately available.

It was easy to go through Roku's website, review the channels available and select the ones that were of interest. Using the update feature of my Roku, the newly chosen channels were immediately available.
I was confused about the purchase of the various channels. I thought that all channels were ordered through Roku and payed for with my PayPal account. That is not necessarily the case. Netflix, for instance is ordered through Netflix directly. VIZZ, on the other hand was ordered through Roku and paid for with my PayPal account. I also ordered Amazon Prime for their free content and free shipping with any item purchased through Amazon. With the exception of Netflix, Amazon and VIZZ, all other channels (28) provided free content.
The remote included with the Roku 3 is simple to operate and is very intuitive. I primarily use the Home, OK, and left, right, top and bottom buttons to scroll through the choices online. I haven't taken advantage of the gaming activities using the motion sensitive feature of the remote. It does come with a wrist strap to keep the remote attached to your wrist during gaming activities.
There are hundreds of channels available to the Roku. Actually, over 80 pages of video choices, some free, others pay for view or monthly or yearly charges. I paid $1.99 for a years access to VIZZ.
I can definitely rate the Roku 3 with 5 stars. Combined with Netflix, they're both winners. I am looking forward to going through the free content of Smithsonian, PBS, History, etc.

improves smart tv experience

I have a Samsung smart tv but the processor they put in the tv is poor quality. My internet speed was above6mbps but I still had poor picture quality streaming Netflix thru my tv. So I decided to invest in a Roku and WOW watching Netflix is awesome...clear picture and no buffering. Roku was definately a great investement and Netflix is a great value vs my cable company that I just canceled :). I would like to see more free stuff offered thru Roku , be careful a lot of the options available thru Roku like international channels you have to actually pay dish network to join, and you can actually look into other options available that will let you stream the same channels for free...for example google XBMC :)

A Great Addition

We bought Roku 3 recently to primarily watch NHL and MLB out of market games. The NHL stream is flawless. We were using a laptop and frequently the stream would be choppy or the picture quality would be low requiring us to reboot everything to get improvement. A bonus is that now we have Pandora in the living room and never have to hook up a laptop again. With PlayOn we watch content for all the networks on our schedule. Goodbye DVR.
