Disappointing

Difficulty in being able to retrieve files etc. from PC. The available software is difficult and would not load on my PC running windows XP service pack 3.

finally got rid of DirectTV!

I am saving over 90 dollars per month for better service. I was so tired of channel surfing with nothing to watch but my husband did not want to give up AMC Walking Dead and the Five. On the Roku we downloaded the free AMC and Fox apps so we can view episodes the next day in HD of Walking Dead for 2.99 and Fox channel for free. My kids love the games and I love saving over $1,000 per year :-) I was already paying for Netflix and Amazon prime but I also added Hulu plus for the kids shows like spongebob and rabbids. There are too many free apps, like YouTube, to name them all here. Before I could only watch online shows through the Xbox 360.
Because the Roku3 connects to my wireless network, I just connected it to my tv using an hdmi cable and now we can watch shows on the living room TV so the kids can play the Xbox in their room.
Even the rep from Direct TV admitted that none of his friends watch television on their TV anymore. The postal service worker who brought the return boxes for the direct tv equipment said she has been delivering a lot of return boxes lately. I am not surprised. If you are already paying for high speed internet (I have DSL) it only makes sense.

Fast easy to use and set up

I also own and use an Apple TV. The Roku is much faster. Only wish I could access my I-Tunes account for purchased shows. Works great with Netfix and Amazon.

Many great things about Roku 3, but the cross-platform search alone makes it a winner. Find it on Netflix, Amazon, HuluPlus, M2Go and others in one simple search

Bought this after much research on internet TVs. Product is easy to hook up, the website and features are very user friendly. The remote with a headphone jack is good. Overall, the reception and streaming is fluent, clarity of channels is great, connectivity to other devices like cellphone or beaming is hassle-free. Addition of yourtube in december was sweet !
