extremely intuitive interface

I have always relied on cable or satellite and watched movies via these services
This was my first media streaming box and I must say the interface is extremely user friendly, intuitive and with only the required buttons and nothing more - great remote.
Also love that I can put in headphones into the remote and control the volume of this right on the remote...very satisfied...all I do is watch movies so I have no comments or input about using the box to view personal photos or videos from another computer

Love this gadget

The Roku 3 is a great device . The Netflix app has a lovely GUI but would like to see the profiles password protected however the profiles are a great idea , the kids love the games too . The remote is well designed and well built .
Connection and set up is simple however I did have to contact customer services via the online live chat service , Although I was connected it was saying no network found but to cut a long story short the device didn't seem to like the virginmedia superhub2. After setting the superhub2 in modem mode and connecting my new asus router the problem solved itself .
The customer service people are very helpful and polite even though I did wait a good half hour .
I don't know if it would be as useful if I didn't have netflix though as this is the main reason we use the Roku3 , there are many more apps to try but I found lots of them pretty useless so far at least but they are adding more all the time .

We purchase the Roku 3 for Christmas after we cancelled our satellite provider because we just couldn't afford the monthly cost and we are so happy we did! We now have subscriptions to Netflix and Hulu Plus for less than $20/month and have more TV and movies than we could possibly ever watch! We don't even use Redbox anymore! We are saving over $40/month and watching the same shows we always did but on our time without the DVR feature. We do miss live sports but otherwise, this is a great alternative to cable/satellite TV. I am hoping that in the future, Roku will be able to work something out with the sports leagues. Setup is a little time consuming but well worth it and it is very easy to use. I have already recommended it to several friends!

Smooth operation, great product

My wife, my adult daughter and I ditched cable and with the first month savings we purchased the Roku 3. We primarily use Netflix and Amazon Prime and have found them easier to navigate on Roku 3 than either our Wii or Blu Ray player. Honestly Roku 3 is superior. Plus we have delved into the "free" channels. Some have been great and others have been useless. The key is to find a few channels you really enjoy. Since we no longer have a cable subcription several of the channels are not available to us, but a surprising number are available including SyFy, History, A&E, Fox News and others. Plus as an Indy film junkie I have a zillion hours of shows to watch. One bonus I was not expecting, for those of you who have discovered the vast treasure trove of movies on YouTube and Vimeo it is very easy to enjoy these on your TV through the Roku 3.Thus far the Roku 3 has been a great device.
