Its getting there

If you want to compete with hulu then ad the network sites ie cw fox, nbc, abc, etc. add scify, USA ,etc. You do this and you'll blow cable and direct tv out of th saddle.

I bought my roku a couple of weeks ago. It's consistently fast and easy to use. Playing games it's not my thing and still the interface is clumsy. Private channels to add is a must do. The search is a superb feature.

Great for me

I've been a Netflix subscriber for years and my smart tv isn't that great when it comes to streaming. I would instead go through an old broken Nintendo Wii which worked better. Recently a friend of mine bought Apple TV and I played around with that for a while and thought it was pretty cool and planned on buying one. I read up on it and saw that a lot of people preferred the Roku 3 over Apple TV because they weren't limited to Apple services (no Amazon videos, etc.). I also read about many of the free channels Roku offered and it sounded right up my alley. I'm a big fan of old Kung Fu, monster, cowboy, and b-movies, and there's a ton of stuff like that offered for free. I recommend this especially for those who are interested in genre flicks. I haven't checked out any of the pay channels other than Netflix which I've had for some time now, but I may do a few free trials to test them out eventually. The streaming is great. The setup is easy. No problems so far. I love being able to watch Youtube videos on the big screen without any hassle. I may eventually end up canceling cable. This is the wave of the future for sure. I hope they keep adding more and more interesting content.

Excellent, but not without frustrations

I purchased this to replace my previous generation LT model that was passed down to my daughter. The previous LT model used to have trouble with different routers and those frustrations. BUT this model doesn't have that problem. This one is faster with a faster processor but tends to be quirky at times. It has dumped me out of netflix, and rebooted on its own, it also has had issues where the icons disappear when going out to the main menu, and going through the menu makes the channels come back. Little stuff like this.
That is the bad stuff. The good stuff is all of the free channels you can get and all of the great experiences I have had with my ROKU box. It works without flaw most of the time. And this model has WIFI, hardwired network jack, microsd card slot, and an enhanced remote that you can use to play games with. While I haven't done the game thing, the hardwired connection is nice when WIFI is down.
I keep this packed up in my bag and take it with me on travel, to my part time job where we can watch TV, etc. And it works in most situations. For the few extra bucks, this model is worth it just for the network jack connection. But it does run faster, and has the ability to do games.
Any ROKU box is worth it so you can watch streaming TV. I had purchased a different product when I first started doing streaming and realized I was stuck with their channel choices so I quickly returned it and got a ROKU. This was a great decision.

Excellent Alternative for Smart TV. Sporadic CC

After having trouble with Samsung Smart TV loosing preferences and crashing on Netflix and other apps I got a Roku 3. It is by far better than our Apple TV and the speed is fantastic. The only real problem I have is that it should have a way of using Close Captioning as a standard setting and not on an app by app setting. Subtitles are missing from M-GO movies, TWC app and many other instances. I know the apps themselves should include the feature like Netflix does so well but Roku should have a way to extract this info from streams of live TV and movies. Speed Reliability and Wifi Reach are the best Ive encountered for a smart alternative to TVs. Youtube was my other gripe but it got fixed already by having an app this year.

Fast and easy media streaming!

I bought my Roku because I was sick of paying ridiculous cable bills and wanted another way of accessing media on my TV. I selected the Roku 3 because I wanted the fast processor and a device cable of connecting to my dual band router. So far I haven't been disappointed, it runs smoothly and easy to use. I highly recommend using the Plex channel to access and organize your personal media library (it also has some good channel of its own).
My only complaints are that some of the channels are not available in Canada and that I feel the motion sensor in the remote is being under utilized for navigation.
Overall, I would highly recommend!

Streaming has gone on without hiccups. Set up was straight forward. Don't have much issues with choice of TV channels as Netflix is the only one available to us with closed caption
