It could be so much better

I am probably not your average customer. I am from Europe, I like soccer and I was looking for a player that was versatile. Play media from my usb drives, streaming from my computer but, most of all, what intrigued me was the possibility to watch tv privately via the phone jack in the remote.
That is an absolutely super idea tainted only by the fact that private listening zeroes the tv audio. I am a little hard of hearing and it would be great if I could listed trough the hear phones while my wife watches tv regularly.
Said that, the biggest complain is the lack of playback options from a usb drive, (AVI, etc), that prevents me from watching all of my media and the absence of a web browser. This media player could really be the bomb if it had this features. I personally would gladly pay more than I din for the player if it had this capabilities and, as soon as I can find one, I am likely to make the switch.
A note to Roku people: You guys are obviously brilliant but you are following the apple model of the apps (roku channels), instead of giving each user the chance to custumize the box to his/hers preferences. We want to be free. I buy the box, I pay for internet, the rest should be my business.

Great Purchase

I cancelled my satellite dish because of a cost and bought a Roku 3. I am very glad to have made this purchase. My only problem is that I wish there was some way with the channels I have selected to see some kind of schedule for their live broadcasts.
It would be a big help. I am glad that I purchased it. It would make me happy if more channels would offer live streaming and perhaps that will come in the future.

My son got the Roku 3 for me this Christmas.I'm very happy with the speed,quality of picture,selection,everything.I have already purchased 2 more for my daughter and father for their birthdays.....VERY HAPPY

Missing easy way to add Youtube (ended up getting an HDMI cable for the computer to the TV). Some decent channels, unfortunately they can be down at times, amazing deal for playing US channels for Canadian viewers...that's where we're true cord cutters!

I received my Roku 3 as a gift from my daughter. Im not really into new electronics devices that come out because its hard for me to figure out. However, this was easy, the tiles had big lettering, it came with a free game, and i have an easy remote to handle with. I'm completely satisfied with my new Roku 3.

How did we live without it.

After cutting the cable cord I bought our ROKU. (Go to "Kill the Cable" website for lots of advice.) The setup is easy and considering that my husband and I are in our 80's we only had a few issues. The big one was solved by buying a longer HD cable but this was something few people will encounter. (Our landlord provides wireless service and we just needed to get the Roku closer to the signal. For others a booster will help.) If I can do it , anyone can.
The content available will satisfy all tastes except for live sports in the US. You will need to figure out where to go for that or buy a package. In time it will stream live also I'm sure.
We love watching episodes on "our time" (and remember to send PBS some of that money you save from cable.) 7.99 for unlimited Netflix. Many, many, free and pay as you go offerings. Unlimited music too.
Got my daughter one for Christmas and now they are hooked. Best $100. I ever spent!

I got this for Xmas 2012 and love it i only wish the different channels always offer Closed Caption and then i would like it to be normal size when it is offered.
