My husband and I bought the Roku 3 people we decided to ditch satellite. We purchased an antenna for local stations and the Roku to stream our Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime accounts. I'm so glad we purchased this. There are many many channel options that I never knew existed until we got the Roku and had to play around the channel store. The remote so easy to use. I love that I don't have to point it at anything and it'll do what you want. We used to stream things through our Nintendo Wii, but the remote wasn't as friendly. We've been using the Roku for a solid month now and I keep finding more channels to add. We could not be happier with it.

Slow, but nice to have

Maybe I was spoiled when I used Netflix from a ps3 stream and it was superfast with no interruptions, because roku has been really laggy for me. It takes up to two minutes, but usually a minute for a movie or show to load. Then the picture quality is not 1080p, the super hd comes and goes throughout the movie. I'm disappointed about this. It's otherwise a nice little gadget, maybe for someone older who doesn't care about a crystal picture and doesn't mind the wait all the time.

I got this Roku 3 for Christmas, best present ever. Very easy to use, quick response every time I turn it on and doesn't take up much space.

I had a western digital streaming player that I bought several years back that was state of the art at the time. Got all of 11channels. The Roku has almost too many choices! Had it up and running in about 3 minutes. And with the Droid apps available, it's fun to stream pictures or videos directly from my phone onto my tv.

Good channel selection, solid performance

Even though I have not tried every possible Roku3 feature (SD card, media library access), I have used a number of the Roku "channels" and a lot of the streaming options via Netflix, Amazon, etc. My primary reasons for buying the Roku were 1. Faster/better Netflix access than my 2011 "smart TV" 2. support for Netflix "profiles" 3. Additional channels such as TWiT, Wall St Journal, Fox News, etc. It has delivered on all the main reasons I wanted the unit, the extras are icing on the cake. There are actually more channels available than I expected to watch, both free and paid. I like the ability to search for a streaming movie across a number of providers (Mgo, Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, etc). Youtube channel was just added in Dec 2013, that was one of the nits against Roku for a long time. I haven't tried it yet but assume that it will work fine.
It would be a 5 star (instead of 4) for me if:
1. It could control my TV input and TV volume via some type of IR blaster
2. Android remote control worked more flawlessly (could be environmental in my home, haven't spent a lot of time troubleshooting)

Worth the price

I bought this since on many streamers you cannot watch Amazon Prime on it and it is so nice having all my media streaming from one place it is a must for those who choose to live without cabel

I'm an old man, not technically inclined. Purchased my Roku3 on the advice of my son. Set it up and got it working without help. Not the most intuitive device I've ever used but could be much worse.

I received this as a birthday present, and am very pleased with it. It was relatively easy to set up. Note: you'll probably want to have your computer there with you when you're setting it up because there's some things you'll have to do online to get it up and running. Although there are a LOT of channels many of them do require fees to use them. I've found the best deal to be Hulu Plus, which has a ton of programming - basically I can watch any TV show I want, whenever I want it all for just $8 a month, definitely beats paying for cable and DVR in a place where there are no over the air signals to speak of. I've noticed that some channels play better than others with my DSL internet, but have had no problem at all with anything I've watched via Hulu. In the month or so that I've had it Roku's added a bunch of channels including YouTube, A&E and Lifetime.
