I am someone who has a hard time buying higher priced items because I want to be sure I am getting the best item I can, at a price I can afford. I spend many, many hours for many, many days reading reviews before I purchase. I got tired of watching Netflix on my iPad mini. I thought about getting a DVD player that had Netflix, but the reviews were so varied and this made me nervous. I also decided I wanted the option to have amazon prime, Hulu, and youtube. Most DVD players didn't offer all three. I started looking at the Roku and was impressed with the reviews, especially for the 3. My only reservation was whether or not youtube could be played. The reviews on amazon said no for the most part, but then some said yes. I asked Roku directly and they said yes you can play youtube. I love this Roku 3. It has so many channels and options. I am so, so happy that I finally bought it (after three days of should I or shouldn't I) and my money was very well spent. It is so easy to set up and use. It took less than five minutes. It is a great product.

I bought this in order to access Netflix from my Samsung HD ready (5ys old) tv and not have to use a laptop. I opted for the 3 as it offered youtube/netflix in addition to the wireless and faster processing speed. It has met all my expectations regarding the faster processing speed, Netflix is better than on my other samsung (1yr old)smart tv and processing speed is much much smoother than my humax. As for the apps for my son who is autistic and loves lego 'Brick show' is perfect. I would have like to have the option to see more detail on apps regarding whether they are completely free/ free but with option to remove adds instead of having to go through every app or to remember what app offers what, an option to see what has been watched i.e watched Storm Warrior but now can't find what app i watched it on, also paying for an app but not having to go on a website and sign up and there is no terms and conditions as to cancelling you subscription i.e. Urbanpix. Other than that very happy.

HD quality picture, but I have to make the sound in stereo.
When I make it surround sound, there is no sound.
It may be because of my slow internet speed.

Great Product But Lack of USB Player

I bought this roku from US, and try to use it as a media player. But when i received it, media player software is only roku usb media player. When I try to use it no sound comes out. So i search all over the web and found out that can't use TV analog speaker. I need an Audio Video Receiver for my Roku. And after playing some times it's Hang and restart by it self.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
