Not worth the cost.

For the high cost to obtain the Roku 3, to me it just wasn't worth it.

GREATEST LITTLE INVENTION EVER MADE

We have 2 ROKU's - one hardwired, one wireless. Have owned the first now for 2 years and this latest one is new. We don't even watch much regular TV anymore - we cut the cord on our cable bill over 2 years ago -- and couldn't be happier. Instead we only pay for our Internet via Cable and watch Netflix or one of the other Roku channels available. There are so many channels to choose from (some free, some subscription) and so much content. For regular TV we limit to just a few shows on ABC CBS and NBC and FOX which we now get free Over the Air with an Antenna. We wouldn't have cut the cord (TV via cable) if it wasn't for the quality of the ROKU player and the multitude of show options over ROKU -- our Blu-Ray player from Panasonic just didn't have either the content or the guts to be able to give us smooth streaming of movies. ROKU does. I might add we do have Performance Internet - a step up from basic Internet on Comcast. Together with the ROKU player, this works flawlessly to deliver high performance HD movies shows and documentaries from their many channels. And who can argue that Angry Birds isn't the best. LOVE ROKU

We were having problems with our Apple TV- losing connection to NETFLEX. A friend of ours was having the same problem, so he spoke with someone at BEST BUY who suggested he purchase a ROKU 3. Our friend told us about this, so we did the same. Our ROKU 3 works great and we no longer have any problems watching NETFLEX.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 3 better than some but not the best

I was hoping to replace my Boxee Box device with this as the apple-TV I bought earlier failed to live up to my expectations as a replacement device.
Though the Roku 3 player is good value for money, it lacks the following two key features that would have made me give it a five star rating:
Youtube: there is no valid reason for not supplying a HTML5 player to provide this VPN option: my old Boxee box had this and was this device not abandoned by the manufacturers, it most likely would have remained my device of choice.

So in summary - a good device but not great.

It's a breath of fresh air to watching TV
