Roku 3 vs Apple TV

We first bought the Apple TV because we own several Apple products and like the air play feature. Then we bought the Roku3 for another TV. Overall I prefer the Roku device. We downloaded the Roku app so we can use our iPads as a remote control. The channel selection is much better & having the ear phones is really great to use when on the treadmill, and I like the size of the Roku remote, the Apple remote is easy to lose. I also like that the Roku will automatically start the next episode when watching Netflix, as I like to fall asleep watching TV, the Apple TV does not so. Both products are great, I just prefer the Roku.

Doesn't live up to the hype

I had read so many positive reviews, I bought one just to see what it was all about. At first, it was great. As far as I was concerned, there would never be any reason to go back to Cable or Satellite. But as I have used it more and more, the failures and errors are more than I care to put up with. I am undecided at this point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Able to catch up on so many shows from my childhoo

I received this as a gift, and looked forward to streaming my DVD collection from my PC. But now I am hooked on Hulu Plus and Amazon, catching up on so many old shows. I have yet to discover any free content worth watching, but the quality of the classics is worth it.

I just bought mine today but have had a Roku 1 for a couple of years and just love it. I have never had any problems, updated to this one to be able to watch you tube.

Easy to use and easier to setup

I have been using the Roku 3 for a little over a month now. My wife and I are major movie watchers. I decided on the Roku 3 after it was highly recommended by a close friend. It was very easy to setup, just follow the onscreen directions and is accepted by all the major online streaming companies. (I have checked all of the major companies and a few of the lesser known companies on the internet). They were easy to add to the onscreen display. On the nights I can't sleep, I find being able to use the headphones enjoyable because I don't disturb or wake my wife while she sleeps.

Fifteen minutes from box to streaming video. Simple set up. Finds wi-fi signal swiftly and effortlessly. Simple and easy to use remote and on screen display. Compact and inobtrusive design. Ample content to choose from among major content providers. Watched friends struggle with streaming video devices from other manufacturers with smug satisfaction. One friend has already swtiched to the Roku 3.
