Good, but could be better

Very fast access to channels, excellent connection to wifi. Could do more to simplify initial setup, and the lack of an optical output is a definite negative for older audio/video receivers having no HDMI or only HDMI pass through as mine does.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm with Time Warner so I have to wait a long time to see some movies but with Roku they seem to be ahead of the game.

This product is great for older non-smart TV's, the interface is fast, and intuitive, it is even capable matching and/or out performing other really expensive smart TV's on the market. Additionally, it is so easy to use that even my mother uses it with no problem :)

The Roku works fine. What disappointed me was 1) almost all the channels charge a fee something not made clear in the write ups and 2) ESPN doesn't work with my internet provider Suddenlink.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had my Roku 3 for about six weeks now. This is my first streaming media player, so I have nothing to compare it with, other than similar services on a PC. My first impression was... where do I start?
There are sooo many channels to choose from, and I couldn't readily tell which were free and which were most popular. You need to set it up online, because its TV menus are really only good for choosing from pre-selected channels. Of course, the major subscription-based services, like Netflix and Hulu Plus seem to offer the best variety.
The wifi didn't work very well for me and I ended up connecting a wired network the next day.
My only major complaint is that the remote eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be prepared to buy a few sets of rechargeables, unless you like buying and throwing batteries away by the truckload. It also seems to drop out when the batteries get down to about 2.2V, which is not far from the 2.4V full charge of a pair of rechargeable batteries. Some of this problem is self-inflicted, because I us the headphone jack to run Pandora to my stereo. One of the primary reasons I purchased the Roku was to use it with Pandora, so I didn't need my PC for that purpose. Roku should consider providing one of these jacks on the base unit too, since it is not battery powered.
The other reason I purchased the Roku was to see if I would be satisfied with it as a replacement for my cable TV subscription. After using it a bit, I'm thinking I'll keep my cable subscription, dropping it to the minimum offering. I think I would miss the live news and general channel surfing. My next step is to install an HD antenna to see if I can go without cable TV altogether.

TALK RADIO

I use my ROKUs to pull up talk radio programs on "Tune In". and TheBlazeTV. I have found that when I can't listen to talk radio at that moment, I can pause the feed and listen at my leisure. I often finish the program hours later even on occasion the next day. Even if I had TheBlazeTV on my cable, I would use the ROKU to watch it. I love this product.
