Easy to use!

We bought this in the spring as we got rid of cable TV. I mainly watch Netflix and Hulu and occasionally will turn the Pandora channel on when my son wants to dance! I love that the remote is infrared so that we can hid the box from my sons curious hands but still use the remote! I wish that there were more sports channels available. We really like football so we had to get cable back for August-February to watch NFL. It has only froze once or twice which required use to unplug the device but other than those 2 issues it has worked like a charm!

I myself use a Roku 2XS and a Roku 3 on separate televisions in conjunction with a server which I use for the whole house and an Over The Air DVR. I use my server to run the "Playon" app as well as handle my external hard drives where I keep my collection of movies and music which is all streamed to either Roku on demand. (but that's just my way). Roku has a lot of apps and various other services which you can use. My favorite part is that there are a lot of peripheral devices and services that work in tandem with the Roku streaming player and you can customize your own entertainment system to suit your needs. You are the master of your own destiny, not the cable company! I think Roku is clearly an evolution in entertainment. No DVD player, No stereo, No video store, and NO CABLE!!!

An acceptable alternative to cable

We're still adjusting to the change in our viewing habits since disconnecting cable in favor of the Roku and online media. The best result thus far is that we don't have the television on all the time "just because", but watch when we have a specific desire to do so. The down side is the ridiculous oft-repeated advertising that precedes many shows, but that's helping to keep the prices down, so I shouldn't complain. But I will.

Missing my Roku

I let a friend borrow it thinking I rarely use it and they were thinking about getting one themselves. The night after letting them borrow it I now immediately regret my decision to let them borrow it. Missing my Roku! I use it a lot more than I thought!

This little box is the BEST

I have had no problems watching shows, playing games and using the remote. I can even use my iPhone as a remote when I can't find the remote or if I can't reach it with my feet, either way it's very convenient. This little box is the BEST!

Binge watching!!

This was an early Christmas Present to each other and we enjoy it immensely. It's easy to set up and you don't really even need your own cable internet if you have access to WiFi. We use it to watch Netflix/Redbox , Crackle (free movies with commercials) T.V series and cable tv series. I was able to catch up on all the old episodes of Mad Men and other shows which we'd missed complelety.
One GEM I hit on was called Ted Talks. ~ no words to explain it .. Ingenious. IF you have Little ones you can show them what you want them to see, PBS and healthy childrens programming! "Garbage in, Garbage out" . We rarely watch regular programmed television anymore.
