I have been lamenting about getting rid of cable for years and with the Roku 3- I finally did it! I like that it doesn't take up space, it comes with these awesome headphones (great for small spaces or guests?!), and I can choose to watch what I want when I want. The selection is good (news , movies, music) and can only get better! Looking forward to the Roku future----

A bit Quicker

From time to time, it produces a message onscreen saying content is not authorized. Very annoying. Restart was my solution, however searching net we learned to connect and disconnect the HDMI cable. Very annoying. You need to admit it and fix it. The earphone feature has been useful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Performance!!!

HD Picture-sound quality, selection of viewing channels,and a very strong reception signal captured by the Roku 3 in our third floor home level makes the Roku 3 a very solid value. Our wireless router is on the first floor in our 1930's home. Walls are very dense with lath/plaster-heavy lumber construction. The Roku picks up the signal throughout the house wonderfully. We have another Roku 3 on the second level of our house with strong performance results. On the back panel of my HDTV's there is a audio out toslink/rca ports that I connect to my sound system to stream music from Pandora and our Amazon Cloud player using the Roku 3. Thank you Roku for such a great complete entertainment product that automaticly updates itself!

Simple... maybe too simple

I bought the Roku because it offers Amazon Prime as well as NetFlix. I haven't been disappointed. The Roku 3 does very well what it says it will do. I especially like the earplugs feature.
Setup is easy and using the box itself leads you through the "happy" path. Off that path and you may feel like you're on your own. However, 99% of the time, who cares?
However, I must confess if one is hoping to sever ties to cable/satellite tv, then be prepared to be disappointed. Everything costs, whether NetFlix, Hulu, MLB.com, etc. At the end of the day, one can easily spend more a month than previously spending on cable/satellite. And still you will find that you are losing something; sporting events, local channels, etc.
Still, if your tv viewing is select and you don't care about being "current", then this is a ticket. (Having grown up with 2 television channels, I can imagine Roku and Netflix being enough, doubt that my kids would feel the same.)

Great Product for Streaming

We received our Roku 3 as a wedding present, and we love it. Before we were using a PC hooked up to our TV, so the Roku is a big step up for us:P It is easy to setup, easy to use and operate, and just recently added ESPN to the list of channels. Very happy with this product!

Roku 3 is a good buy

I really enjoy the Roku 3. Great product. I use it everyday. If I had a complaint it would be the price. While I think it is an upgrade from the previous model I think it could be cheaper than 99 dollars. Obviously it all depends on what you use the Roku to do. If you are just streaming movies or TV shows, the Roku 2 has the same interface and while the speed of 3 is slightly better, I think it is marginal and would purchase the Roku 2 and save a few dollars. It is still a great product, and you can't go wrong whatever Roku you purchase.

easy to view desired channels

2 months and loving it. I pick the movies, tv shows and music channels I like sit back and enjoy. I'm thinking of getting rid of cable and Netflix because their library of products is limited.

I used to have one of those DVD players with Netflix built in to it and it was ok but somehow it was always screwing up. when i wanted to resume a movie or show from where it left off it only did it about a quarter of the time and it was slow as cold molasses. I got this Roku because i wanted to have amazon prime. WOW! what an eye opener. This thing is fast and works perfectly every time and i love the headphones feature. Get this you will not be disappointed in any way
