The Roku is changing my life!

Seriously - the Roku is saving me money, enabling me to watch TV more while spending less time recording stuff on my DVR, and letting me spend more time with my daughter watching Studio C on BYU TV. Between BYUtv, Amazon Prime, Hulu, VUDU, and the USB player, I'm happy as a clam with a wide variety of high-quality content so I can watch and/or listen to what I want, when I want.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The best Plex and Netflix player

I've been looking for a good plex player for a long time, and been using a htpc or using the PMS DLNA features to play directly to my TV, XBOX or receiver. All of them with issues either with codecs, performance or stability. With Roku 3 all the problems are gone. I have a native Plex client, both offical and with 3rd party improvements. All my media files play perfectly through Roku 3 now. I'm using Roku from Norway, bought the unit while visiting the US, and after trying the unit for 2h on the hotel I went back to the store and bought a 2nd device :)
I'm using Roku as a Plex client, and also Netflix. To have some games, and a very good remote control is just an added bonus. Many of the applications are not made for Norway, but since Plex and Netflix is working fine, I'm not missing any features, except the Roku Android app, that's not available in the Norwegian Play Store.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wish I bought this first! A friend suggested I pick up a roku for a second streaming box option. My Apple TV has now been relegated to the guest room and roku is connected to the home theatre. Great content choices, plus plex for watching content off my home network and the roku as a whole is faster/more responsive than Apple TV. Hands down winner.

Crisp, quick & clear

I purchased this because of other great reviews and to compare it to another device. It is very fast and clear compared to the competition but it is difficult to modify any setting such as DNS to change content which is limited in Canada by CRTC.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Gateway to stream, but pay to watch anything good!

We've had it a few months, and I cannot believe it stays ON and HOT 24/7! NO switch to turn it OFF! Heat means electricity resistance; just another device that sucks electricity even when not being used. Be ready to pay; so we got Netflix but half of what we want to watch is on DVDs only....so Netflix wants to charge double. Yes, there is free content if you're willing to watch reruns and 2 minute exerpts, but the Roku device is not only a gateway to the Internet but also a gateway to FEES and disappointment. Geez.....you could at least put an on/off switch on it!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
