I have been using Roku 3 for about 3 months. I like everything about it. Simple interface and easy to use. No need to buy a "smart TV." Everything I desire is available on the Roku device. The Roku navigator "clicker" is solid. Excellent design in all respects. The amount of available apps is tremendous. Add a subscription to Netflix or Amazon Prime or your favorite movie and TV delivery app and you are set for TV on demand. There are plenty of free movies via Roku, though some come with commercials, but they are brief and so much better than watching 3-4 minutes of commercials on regular TV, cable TV included. I also have an over-the-air TV antennae hooked up but I do not use it that much, though it is there if I want. I ended my cable TV subscription more than a year ago (saving me more than $40 a month) and have no regrets, except for not being able to watch some live sports. I do miss that, but I have adjusted. I pay about $30 a month for cable Internet broadband.

We switched to Roku cause all our fun money was going to pay daycare expenses. We still have to have the Netflix and Hulu memberships but it is way more affordable. We have two Roku's now. I wish there were more free channels with current movies and shows. Or that HBO or similar were available without cable but we are making due. The Roku itself works great and my daughter likes the headphones so she can tune out her baby brother.

This is an amazing device. Set up easily, works great, simple to use. It just does what it says it would. With expanded apps, it just keeps getting better. Never chokes on content...powerful processor.

Preferred over Apple TV

I am all in on the Roku. Started down the road with Apple TV which is solid device, though I found the remote to difficult to operate with larger hands. Tried the Roku 3 and I love it. Have purchased 3 in total giving one as a gift. Remote is far superior and the addition of Amazon Prime is great since this channel is not an option on Apple TV. Highly recommend

I like it but Netflix takes the shine off

WHY can I not watch a movie from start to finish INCLUDING the credits???????? The new netflix app will not allow me to. Thats a huge FAIL in my book. Not that it does what it does but that I can not override someone else deciding how I watch movies.
Otherwise Roku is stellar.

I bought this a few months ago and put it in my 6 year old son's room. He know knows how to use it and can play games, watch PBS or Netflix, etc. It has a very simple interface and he loves it. We do not have cable anymore, only Roku.

I bought the Roku 1 a while back and was skeptical as to whether I would use it enough to justify the cost. After a few months of using it, I was using it so much, I decided I needed one in the bedroom, even though most of my usage is in the living room. So I bought the Roku 3. After using it for a few weeks, I liked the additional features so well that I replaced the Roku 1 with a Roku 3. My hearing is declining and being able to use the earphone with the remote is a definite plus. The other features are nice to have, also. Tv during the summer months has little to offer and I use Amazon and Netflix frequently.
