Better performance

I have been using a Western Digital device. It's been nice, but will sometimes lockup during loading up or streaming Netflix. I a few months ago I purchased a Roku 3 to test. It's far superior in it's loading of any of the apps I currently have and doesn't exhibit the streaming issues. Very happy I took the chance.

I only stream with Roku now, we turned off cable and save $100/mth. This is an awesome piece of technology to own!

Great streaming quality

I bought this Roku 3 so I could stream Amazon Prime video, as none of my other video equipment supported Amazon Prime. What I found out was, my streaming of Netflix, the service I normally use, was far faster and superior to any of the other devices on my system; TIVO, DVD player, Television.

NO more cable! yay!

We bought 3 Roku 3's for our house. We LOVE them! We gave up cable, purchased an attic antenna, Netflix and HuluPlus and the Roku makes it so easy to watch anything we want. Getting rid of cable is saving us $120 per month. The Roku's will be paid for in 3 and then we'll enjoy our savings :)

Not as user friendly as the older Roku devices

Roku continues to improve the hardware, but at the price of usability. Example: we have several pieces of gear in our system and so have a single learning remote control programmed to handle everything. But, the Roku 3 has an RF-based remote to handle the headphone audio so now we have to use the separate Roku remote control. Oddly, the Roku 3 still has an IR capability and responds to an older Roku remote. The user interface for Netflix and Hulu Plus have been improved in some ways, but they've regressed in others. You can no longer easily look at the Netflix show icons and see if any new episodes have been added.
