I bought this a month ago because I wanted to try and save money and get rid of cable. It has worked out great!! I have not missed cable at all and have saved almost $100.00 a month! The only problem is is that if there are certain shows that you love to watch and want the newest episodes you may have to pay for them if it is on any channels at all. However, I have found plenty of things to watch and have found new shows that I enjoy watching. I actually plan on buying this for a christmas present for two of my friends. The reason I bought the Roku 3 was because of the USB port, I have hooked up my hard drive and can now play all the movies and TV shows on the hard drive through the Roku, very great feature!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought one a month ago. Super easy setup. Super easy to use. Kids used it so much I bought a second one. Now I just have to upgrade our DSL to cable to increase the speed for all of the streaming.

I was having trouble with my Sony wireless home entertainment system stopping to buffer on Netflix. Bought the Roku and solved the problem, plus opened up a world of additional content.

Great devise

I am very happy with my new Roku 3 streaming devise.
I purchased the unit expecting much, and the device delivered until I began receiving a persistent purple "HDCP unauthorized" screen. Apparently the issue is caused by changing the HDMI connection -- this is unavoidable because I use a pass-through receiver which handles the audio which must be turned on/off. The issue does not resolve itself until I complete a factory restore which is time consuming and frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Old flat screens get SMART..

We recently signed up for Netflix. Our family room has a smart TV, but the master bedroom has an older Samsung flat screen, without Internet connectivity. After researching available products, I decided on the Roku 3. I was afraid it would be a connectivity nightmare, but since I have an extensive background in IT, I was not too concerned. To my surprise, the onscreen guide was simple and once I set up the account on the Roku website, we were watching Netflix. I would say from opening the box to connecting to Netflix was less than 30 minutes. Great product, fair price and easy to setup and use.
Be sure to have an HDMI cable available since there isn't one included with the device. Also, you must set up an account on the Roku website, but that's easy too.
