I have been using my Roku for about two months and I absolutely love it. It was an easy set-up and the picture streaming from my set is great. I am able to view television that is not available from the local cable company. I am very happy with my purchase!

I loved the Roku 3 when I first bought it. Since the latest update, Netflix no longer functions correctly. I've lost 5.1 capabilities on Netflix, and only on the Roku 3. It is an obvious software issue, that neither Netflix nor Roku will acknowledge and fix. Although the new Netflix update is horrible, the same update happened on my ps3, and Netflix works fine on that, so I'm going to say it is more likely Roku's fault...

I can't believe how much money I wasted all these years on cable and satellite subscriptions to get LESS than what I get with my Roku(s...not sure what the plural of Roku is. Roku, Rokuu, Rokus or Rokii? Meh. Anyway's I have a few now).
I get FAR more on my Roku devices (there you go, that solves the plural question) for WAY less money per month AAAAAND...it is SO much greener. This thing uses 3.5 watts when streaming and less when idle. My old DVR's were more like 40 watts whether I was watching them or not.
The best part is...EVERYTHING is on demand. I don't have to worry about missing a recording because I forgot or because you can only record two things at once...in fact...I don't have to waste energy recording at all. I stream only what I want, WHEN I want it. I never run out of space because I'm not storing anything.
With DirecTv, my DVR would lose it's mind and need to be reset...losing all of my recordings with no way for me to get them back. With Roku, I can watch things that aren't even on the air anymore and I don't have to wait for them to be revived so I can try to record them. They are just there...always...whenever I want them...like an old friend.
Contrary to what the cable and satellite companies try to convince you of (they actually tried to convince me of this too when I called to cancel) you don't need them to get all of your local channels to watch sports and news and live programming. A simple $8 antenna does that just fine. I ended up with over 30 over-the-air channels that are all digital and HD (unless the channel or program is not broadcast in HD but that would be the same for cable and satellite too).
On top of all that, Roku gives me channels that I LOVE that are not even available on satellite or cable.
Bottom line...THIS is the future of streaming home entertainment.
I'm giving them as Christmas gifts too.

I have two roku's. I have had problems with both. Both the roku and the remotes are constantly freezing up. I have one that i cant even connect. It is stuck on the select language screen. I wish I had never spent $200 on these!

Streaming done right

I've had my Roku 3 for one month now, and I find it difficult to imaging how I ever streamed movies and TV programs without it. In fact, I like it so much, I'm seriously considering purchasing a few more so every room in the house is streaming ready.
Prior to purchasing Roku, I watched movies online via internet-ready Blu-Ray players. I was thoroughly frustrated by the constant buffering, especially on Netflix. I just wanted to be able to watch a show without needless interruptions. I knew my internet bandwidth was more than sufficient to stream movies; I am, after all, paying more for my internet service to be able to do so. I even cancelled one subscription because I was convinced the issue was with the service. It never occurred to me that the device itself could be the problem.
I finally decided I'd had enough with the poor connection performance. I'd read good things about Roku, and a co-worker recommended it so I thought I'd give it a try.
I will never stream movies and TV on any other device after owning a Roku. I watch TV and movies all the time on the Roku with nary a hiccup. I am still shocked at how much of a difference the Roku makes.
In addition to solid performance, the Roku boasts a slick, intuitive interface. It's so simple to select, search, queue and mark programs as favorites that you don't even have to think about what you're doing. I've slogged through interfaces on many other devices that left me wishing I had a road map or a 200-page user manual. Not so with the Roku.
The remote control with ear buds is also a nice feature. I frequently find it difficult to watch a program because of background noise, so it's nice to be able to pop in the ear buds and block out all of the distractions. It also ensures that I don't disturb others with the programs I'm watching.
A solid performer with a user-friendly feature set, the Roku 3 is worth every penny I spent on it. It's easily the best entertainment purchase I've made in years.

Our one TV did not have Amazon on it and after researching the best way way to access Amazon, I found Roku. The Roku 3 is exactly what the reviews read. Easy to set up, easy to access and so many channels to explore. The quality is great and worth its cost!
