I like the headphone availability

I purchased the 3 which replaces my model 2 mainly for the headphone availability although it also does seem faster.

Best streaming device on the market

I have bought an AppleTV, Google Chrome Cast, the original Roku, Roku 2XS, and now a Roku 3; and I have to say the Roku 3 is far the best streaming device out there on the market today.

great way to cut the cable guys & still enjoy life

We bought ours about 3 months ago and love it. It has definitely met our needs. Great way to save money and still enjoy life. Sporting events are lacking some, but one can get a season long pass for baseball and basketball. (major leagues)

first time user. it works pretty good. i do not like that to watch network shows i have to login with my cable provider, seems like the reason to get roku is to eliminate cable.
the earphone in the remote is a great idea, but the connection is full of static and very finiciky. reminds me of the earphone jacks on airplanes, you know the ones that dont work unless you find the sweet spot and then you have to hold it there?

New Update Downgrades Netflix Experience

I bought the Roku 3 in May and was happy about the ease of setup and expecially the earphone/remote. I watch mostly Netflix with the device and in November an update downgraded the Netflix experience To wit the reverse feature takes several clicks on the remote to get it to "engage" , in serials it continues on to the next episode - I would prefer to tell it when to start; while the highlighted episode is very readable the rest of the screen is almost too dark to see with my aging eyes!; the credits are fast forwarded at the end and on a small screen, As a movie buff I prefer them to be full screen, These did not happen before the update. And Netflix on my phone/tablet and computer are still what I expect. I don't watch many of the other applications save for the weather.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

More Than I Expected

My thought for purchasing a streaming player was to take advantage of Amazon Prime Videos. Great for Amazon Prime members but so much more. Love to explore!

Various of Channels

My sister bought the Roku 3 for my birthday. There are so many channels (movies, TV, exercise, kids, etc) to choose from it's difficult to determine which to watch when I have the time. The latest movies (at least one year old cost $2-5. Not bad. Better than going to the movies downtown. It's a great streaming player. I recommend you try it.
