My first Roku

I was in need of a better streaming media device than my BD player. I read reviews of different models and it appeared that the Roku was the best available (as of October 2013). Setup was very easy. The performance was as advertised; very fast! The channel selection is good (no YouTube :-( ) The remote works very well, and the Android app just as well. Everyone I know who has purchased one is very happy with it.

Exceeded Expectations

This product more than meets my needs. I have so much "free" television, without a cable or dish payment every month. I have control of what I want to enjoy, when I want to enjoy the program. I also have the option of paid movies, for a minimal cost, compared to cable or dish payment every month. Spirit clips from Hallmark is an excellent choice for paid "TV" at a reasonable rate. Pandora, for music is wonderful.

The Best Streaming Player Ever!!!

I bought a ROKU player about a month ago.I got tired of watching cable.I went looking for a new device and found ROKU and I love it.I have Amazon Prime and Netflix on my ROKU player.You cannot find a better streaming player than the ROKU.I no longer have digital cable I went back to basic.The only reason why I kept basic cable because I have to watch.The Golden Girls,Gunsmoke and Maury.

The only thing I don't like about the Roku really has nothing to do with Roku at all I don't think. HBO doesn't stream through Roku through DirecTV or Comcast. Also, I wish more current movies were available through Roku instead of just older stuff from Netflix, Hulu, Redbox, etc.

I went through the same debate that I think most people go through: Apple TV vs Roku vs ChromeCast. By far the Roku is the most high powered of the 3 with the most channel offereings. Lots of private channels. Great picture. Super fast. I don't think I'll use cable or go to the movie theater ever again. One time up front costs plus the costs of subscriptions and movie purchases. A great device that continues to lead the field.

I bought roku after canceling our cable because we never watched it. We use our roku daily and it works great. There are a lot of apps to use. We pay for hulu plus and Amazon prime already (for our other devices), so being able to use the roku to watch it on tv is great.

Better than cable!

Decided to get rid of cable. With Roku I am saving $200 a month, my wife and I watch all the shows that we want, with a much more pleasant entertainment experience. Set-up and use of Roku is extremely easy. I don't miss cable one bit!

I bought this so I could get rid of cable. I LOVE it! It's SO easy to use, and it has the major apps I need. I don't find much of anything besides Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Vudu to be of any real interest, but maybe others will. (If CBS, USA, and TNT would put their shows on Hulu, it would be perfect.) Probably my most favorite feature is how Hulu Plus will go ahead and start another program at the end of the one I just finished, so I can still use the TV for background noise without having to constantly manage it. I'm also really impressed with how well the remote works and especially how I can plug in earphones to watch without disturbing anyone else.What a great product -- I'm so glad to be rid of cable! Thank you, Roku!
