So far I have been nothing but disappointed in my Roku. It does not have the quality programming it advertises. Many of the apps offer the exact same programs as other apps. Many apps require a subscription to the app or to another program. The Scy Fy channel it advertises is a joke. Just offers some clips.
Hulu and netflix both run really well on the roku. The two apps I use everyday.
Do you research before purchasing a roku. Might find it is a waste of time and money. If you want religious programs then this is for you. Offers a LOT of religious stuff.

I started using Roku at my vacation home to save on the cost of cable, I liked it so much I purchased a Roku 3 for home, The addition of the motion control for gaming in the Roku 3 is a hit with the kids, I'm purchasing another for my Grandson as a Christmas present, he will love it and his parents will like the cost savings of another cable box gone

Disappointed, Roku advertises 31,000 movies and 1000's of channels. They neglect to tell you that the majority over movies are pay for channels, and the 1000's of channels are little more than public access channels, well meaning but thoughtlessly tossed together channels of specific interest. If you want it for Netflix, Plex, or USB video playback save the money and get a cheaper Roku.

I own the Roku3, Apple TV 3 and Pivos XIOS. Roku3 has a lot of the free and paid content that I watch weekly: TWiT, NHL Gamecenter, MLB, NetFlix, Nowhere TV. The range of content is much broader than Apple TV, it seems anyone can build a plug-in for Roku and put their content up (except oddly there's no Youtube App as of this writing). As far as bringing in "outside" content, support for Plex Media Centre is very welcomed, many would say necessary with Roku3. I can play a lot of movies from a USB drive plugged into the Roku3 (can't do that with Apple TV) but oddly again there is no support for the ubiquitous AVI container for some reason (only for MKV, MP4 and M4V). However, since I run most movies through Plex there is a way around this. The Roku also supports Twonky which allows me to stream content from my Android devices. A small gripe is that the Roku3 doesn't do as nice a job at fast forward, rewind scrub as the Apple TV when watching a movie. Also, Apple TV's formidable iTunes store is something that is Roku just doesn't have and is something that sets Apple apart. If you really want to watch something you'll always be able to get it by paying for it in the iTunes Store. Side note: the Pivos XIOS is for the true hacker "enthusiast" user and is by far the most complicated to set up and curate, the Apple and Roku3 are much simpler and for the most part work right out of the box. Overall I'd say they both have their strengths and weaknesses, why not buy both was my solution they compliment each other in my house.

I bought the Roku to see if I could "cut the cable". But without the extra cost add-ons, there is not much quality programming amid all the junk. Plus, I can join hulu or netflix without going through Roku. So, sadly, I am keeping the cable. I returned Roku for a refund.

I am ecstatic with all of the channels you get on the Roku. The search function is wonderful. Instead of searching the channels separately it has an integrated search function. My only complaint is the lack of You Tube. If it had You Tube it would be an A+++++ Even without You Tube it is an A+++

This box is compact and so easy to set up and use. I was trying to decide between the Roku box and Apple TV. The Roku box has Plex and that made all the difference. i was pleasantly surprised by all the other channels that are available. I haven't viewed many of the other channels but it opens up a whole new world!

Bought the Roku 6 weeks ago as an add-on to my TV, having replaced my satelite with an antenna. Very pleased with Roku and since we are not impressed with current TV programing we watch shows from Roku more.
