[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had trouble with my smartcode product and was unable to realize a solution with the information that I had through the instructions. I found a customer care phone number in the instructions and placed the call. My smartcode deadbolt had been installed for a year and a half. After troubleshooting with a service technician over the phone I was informed that the lock mechanism was not repairable. I explained that I am the owner of another unit which has been in service at my home for over 4 years. The service tech then told me they would replace my lock as a one time courtesy. I was ecstatic that they would do that and the product arrived in approximately a week. I am certainly glad o made the call and my new deadbolt is working flawlessly. Thank you Kwikset.

Bad Quality Control

I bought this recently and it does not work. I am more than a bit of a diy kind of guy. Usually able to work around minor problems that happen in projects. But the male electronic plug would not snap into the female. Should not be a problem as it is clearly labeled "UP." Did not have side "guiding" extrusions that would insure proper alignment, but then again there is only one way to align it. The prongs appear straight. So apparent reason that it would not just snap in.

I’ve had the SmartCode 909 for a little more than a year and I really like it. You can come and go without carrying keys with you. I always keep the doors locked. There is a lot of crime in the city I live in.

A Necessary & Attractive for All Homes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had three installed in our home; front & back doors of our home and side garage door. Started with only one in the front door but it was not only attractive but easier for us to lock and open rather than fumbling around for keys. No more added expenses of replacing locks and making copies of keys because friends, relatives, house and pet sitters don't always remember where they put our keys and/or never return the keys. What an attractive and cost effective addition to our home.

Malfunctioned after 2 guests

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lock malfunctioned and locked our tenants out for almost 3 hours; we live an hour away and had to travel there and deal with it, had to refund money, and suffer a lot of frustration. Not very happy with this lock.

Terrible lock

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not at all happy with this deadbolt I wouldn't recommend it to anyone the install was fairly simple it worked for a day or two and then it locked me out of my house right on the box it says no luck out I had to break in through a window because I didn't have a key it came with a key but I thought after two days I would need it that was my bad to get locked out I should've had the key do not buy this lock it's a piece of junk and I also can't believe it took four AA batteries to run it that's ridiculous

Epic Failure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a home with four of these locks. I wasn’t able to reprogram one of the locks; Kwikset told me that the lock was fully inop. I just replaced the batteries in the second lock and am not able to reprogram. Customer Support confirms that this lock, too, in fully inop. Fifty percent failure in less than seven months since moving in. Worthless!
