Nice deadbolt.

The deadbolt is very attractive, easy to install and secure. It functions well with the touchpad but make sure you have a bushel of batteries and your key because it sucks the energy out of the batteries and then the touchpad won't work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No More Keys!

I have had this Kwikset SmartCode Deadbolt for just about two years. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to not to have to worry about being locked out of your house. With no keys needed, it's a simple code that you create that can be changed if and when you need to. You can also have an additional code created to allow a guest to enter if necessary, possibly to check on your home while you are away. This code can then be deleted or changed. I feel very secure with this lock as it will only allow someone to try the combination a few times before it shuts down and will not allow any additional attempts for a certain amount of minutes. I love this lock!

Hard to program

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2 different locks and neither one are allowing me to program them. I followed the instructions exactly as the manual says, to no avail. I need help!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this lock quite a long time ago. Works excellent! I did have an issue with the light. Customer service sent me a new one under warranty. I love the convenience of not having to carry even one more key!

Incredible Deadbolt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchase our first one 2.5 years ago and second 1 year ago. These electronic deadbolts are wonderful for a household with kids and dogs. Just punch your code in and you are inside without digging around for keys with your hands full, dogs underfoot or kids coming home from school. Can't stop raving about them with our friends and visitors.

Cannot Mix Interior & Exterior Colors; Weak Motor

My exterior door is black; my interior hardware is pewter. Kwickset offers only same colors both sides. Only way to get different colors is to buy two units & discard half of each. Also, motor is weak; all components must have lots of clearance for the deadbolt to move. Self re-keying is a good feature.
