Great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a year ago with the bottom lock also. Both with the changeable key and 2 sets of the regular deadbolts and door knob. On the two sets, I was not able to do any rekeying, so, I rekeyed the other two to use the same key. I now have three doors that use the same key. We normally don't lock the bottom lock, so now we no longer fumble around for a key. As a matter of fact we haven't used a key in a year. When we need let somebody in when we are on vacation, we put a second code for the time period and clear it when we come back. No more locking ourselves out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used one of the ZWAVE models of the Kwikset Smartcode Deadbolt locks managed via VIVINT home security on a house I purchased in FL. I was over 600 miles away but knew when my workers showed up to work on the house I was flipping and when they left for the day as I got alerts when the door was opened or secured. I also used this to allow the delivery of the materials including flooring, tile, doors, etc. I had Lowes and Home depot call my mobile phone when the arrived and I unlocked the door so they could put the material inside the house. They were speechless when I told them to stand back and I would unlock the door for their entry.
When I sold the house I knew exactly when the real estate agents arrived and when they left as setup the Vivint system to send me texts and emails. I also knew when they did not show up and the reaction was rather comical when they told me they had and I explained I new when they entered the property and they had not.
Another thing I was able to do because of the Kwikset system is to set every home to the same key. I had another home in FL when I put the house I flipped on the market and my home up north. With the simple tool, I was able to key all three homes to the same key. Imagine the simplicity of having a single key on your keychain that opened up three homes. Now imagine this for three children and your wife. Just a single key. No labeling this key works in this door, no bulky keychain, and no headaches for me!
The other really nice benefit of the Kwikset (and I would recommend these to everyone) is the ability to key or Rekey the locks when you move in our out without having to make any physical change to the lock or get a locksmith.
Many property management companies try to charge you a rekeying fee when you move out. Homes with the kwikset lock system can be changed in a minute to a new key saving the expense of rekeying.
I plan on specifying my builder use a kwikset system on my next home for all the reasons mentioned above.
Oh - another thing. If you have any issue with the locks (I had a door in a house which was problematic to open before I bought the house) all you have to do is call technical support and they will walk you through how to correct and if you cannot fix it they will send a replacement part to you very fast. I like to do my own work vs getting other involved so this was a huge plus to me.

Good lock, great service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my first one when we bought our house 5 years ago. The first one didn't last long and I called and Kwikset sent out a new one. I had trouble with the new one and that one was replaced. Now on the last one it works great. It was worth the trouble to me. I am able to set a combination for other people without having to give out our combination.

Secure,but needs more settings on auto-lock

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this lock in my house for some time now. I have the auto locking feature selected, however, I find that it will lock too fast. Wish there was a setting where you can increase the duration. I also don't find the batteries lasting very long, but this is likely due to the auto lock feature and it is on a high traffic door

A little tough to program

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've installed 2 of these and am very pleased with both. The obvious advantage is not requiring a key. This helped in a different way a couple of years ago when I was out-of-town and wanted a friend (who didn't have a key) to get something which was inside the house. The only downside to the installation was having to be careful about aligning the parts before tightening the screws to minimize the force required to move the deadbolt. Otherwise the battery life (over a year in my experience) could be considerably shortened.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed one of these at my old house and I installed one at my new house two dyas after I moved in. I love not having to go into my purse to get my keys, especially when my hands are full of shopping bags.
They are easy to install and work well. I installed kwick set locks on all the doors and made them match the key from my old house. I didn't even have to send new keys to my parents and children who live out of town.
I would recommend this to a friend!
