Great Product But.....

We've had this lock for about 4 months. We primarily got it for our children and for the convenience of cleaning service access. Yesterday it just stopped working. I tried everything listed in the instructions including a new battery, readjusting screws, and even completely reinstalling and reprogramming it with no success. I think the mechanism is stuck. Though it was absolutely wonderful when it worked, now its useless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bolt gets jammed and does not slide smooth

No need to hide a spare key

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have neighbours that check our house when we travel. It is so convenient to not to have a lot of extra keys around. I have been locked out a number of times in the past. Now there is no more problem. We had problems with out initial set, however, we got super service when we called, even to the extent of having a new set mailed out at no cost to us. They back their product!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First the negatives. With off spring in the house, tempers flare at times. Occasionally the door gets slammed hard enough to jar the batteries loose,and if the offending rugrat is out after we go to bed, he/she can't get back in because their mom locks the door manually, not realizing the batteries have disconnected. Hence the phone rings at whatever hour. Second minor drawback is the keypad is not backlit. That would be a great improvement for night time ease of use.
Having said this we are on the second unit for the same entry door in approximately 12 years, and it has seen heavy use. The first lock set gave up mechanically in the drive train and would not extend or retract the dead bolt. Kwikset customer service was phenomenal to speak with and were extremely helpful, both in diagnosis of the problem, and replacing it with no questions. The electronics portion has never given any trouble, and batteries seem to last better than a year. The unit seems to struggle a bit when batteries are near 'end of life', there by giving sufficient warning to replace them before being locked out.
Our lock set was very easy to install and the finish on both has held up to the weather admirably. I am duly impressed with the ease of programming and having two operational codes works well. The 'home' code for the above mentioned rugrats is eternal while the second code can be used for friends, service folks, and semi-close relatives. Set up in this manner, the second code gets changed with some regularity for our peace of mind. No more lost keys which is a constant spousal assembly issue. She is a great companion, but keeping track of keys is not her forte. I would highly recommend this product to any household with more than one person, especially children.

Easy Access

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I never carry a key anymore. just need to change out the batteries every month or so. I wore out the key pad on the first one and customer service sent me a replacement. Still going strong.

Batteries are dying every other day!

Bought this in Sept 2015. Love the look and ease of installation. After a month it needed new batteries. After another 2 weeks is required new batteries then weekly now almost daily. I can't do this. It's ridiculous. I am having to carry a key as a back up. Not the purpose of this type of door lock. So disappointed. It's a beautiful lock.
