Great features...but where are the lights?

I bought this lock a month ago for the ease of entering my new house. I've been spoiled in the past by an apartment with an attached garage with a garage door opener and a car with keyless entry. It was an adjustment to have to physically get out my keys to unlock my new house. I know... first world problems... The lock gives me peace of mind that it will lock on its own if I should forget to lock it when leaving. I also love the fact that I can give a code to someone for temporary access - very handy when having work done on the house. My only two complaints: 1) It's fairly noisy. I have hardword floors which seem to amplify it. It definitely makes me jump if I leave the door open and forget about the locking mechanism activating. I'll probably get more used to it in time. 2) The lights blink when I program the lock, but they don't turn on as I enter the code. In fact, they never have. I tried to reset the unit with no luck. It's starting to get dark outside earlier, so this may become a problem. Overall, a great lock for the people who love technology and can't seem to adapt to keys but it does have a few quirks.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We'd love to help troubleshoot why your 909 SmartCode deadbolt hasn't been lighting up. The buttons will not light up every time, as a feature to help conserve battery life. However, if you need the keypad to light up (say if evening, or if there is low light), you can simply push the button with the lock icon on it, and it will light up the keypad. This way you can see the keypad in order to enter the numbers in. If this does not solve your problem, there may be another cause, please contact our consumer service team at 1-800-327-LOCK (5625). This product is covered by Kwikset's lifetime warranty.

Positive Experience with Kwikset 910

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing my Kwikset 910 Zwave locks that I purchased in May 2014. I purchased two of the locks (kitchen and front door) to use with my Vera Lite home automation system. Over the 1.5 years that I have had the locks I am very satisfied with their performance and the support provided by Kwikset.
I have had two challenges with one of the locks (front door). The first challenge was experienced right away with the battery life being extremely short (7-10 days). I contacted Kwikset and they worked with me to troubleshoot the issue. In short, the issue was not with the lock and the resolution was one of the follow up activities suggested by Kwikset (involved the use of another zWave device that could act as a passthru repeater). The second issue I had was a mechanical issue concerning the latching bolt failing to lock. I contacted Kwikset and after troubleshooting with them over the phone, they determined the issue to be mechanical and sent me a replacement lock.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the 910 function, performance and customer support.

Great security and features plus easy installation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the older version of this deadbolt two years ago, and was very impressed by the ease of installation. The polished brass finish is still like new, and I've been very satisfied with the lock's performance.
My experience with this lock turned me into a loyal Kwikset customer. When I decided to add another 909 to my patio door, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the newest version now holds eight codes, instead of just two.
Kwikset customer service is great too... very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional.

Great features & easy install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for Xmas in 15. Easy to follow instructions and easy to install. Only problem occurred when I thought I knew more than the instructions and I didn't complete the door handling process before trying the deadbolt and finding it not moving as easy or as far as I thought it should.
The troubleshooting section put me back on track. Now working great. The grandkids think it's the best thing since girls.

Mechanical sticking issued in manual and auto

I bought this in Summer 2015 and the deadbolt has stuck extending out. It will also stick in manual mode too. It also sticks when in test mode with door open. Very disappointing because this is the second one I have purchased with issues. I am currently using it only manually and a key! Several adjustments have been made to no
avail. Please help

Easy to install, works well, even near water

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased three, installed and keyed them in about 2 hours. Work really well. Batteries only last about 6 months but the convenience is worth the hassle of changing them and even if they go dead, it's keyed..

Easy to install and use!

The entry codes are so easy for the owners to change; as people come and go, we just program the code for the last 4 digits of their cell phone number and it works like a charm!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had ours for three years and it still functions great. We tried another one but it did not have the backlight. The backlight is important to have at night. It is so convienient to be able to lock the deadbolt with a push of a button.
