Bought late 2014. Stopped working but got going again after doing the reinstall steps. Made it thru the very cold winter. Working on the original batteries in June 2015.

Better than Keyed Entry

While they are better than keyed entry for rentals who have people who come and go often, they tend to be tricky -- they must be sitting precisely in the "hole" of the deadbolt or they will not operate, they often require multiple code entries to accept the code and work, and the keypads wear out and have to be replaced or the whole lock just quits working. Still, less expensive overall if you have multiple tenants.

Occasionally the buttons do not work

A few times a week the buttons on the lock will not respond at all. Mainly the lock button To get them to work again I have to manually lock from the inside, punch in my security code, and then the lock button works again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I own couple of these units for my houses, and impressed by ease of use and ability to change code quickly. Customer service are excellent. Love the lifetime warranty...

We just built a new house and installing Kwikset locks was the smartest decision we made. The ease of installing the locks and the functionality is absolutley phenomenal. No more worries about searching for a key... the number pad is the best invention since the printing press!

Convenience!

We needed to have a simple way to get into the house in case we lost our keys. This has been a choice. We love the convenience of not having to dig for the key to unlock the door.

Quickly programed all 3 smartcode deadbolt keys

I ordered three of the Kwikset smartcode deadbolt locks for my home and found them to be is a Superior Product and reasonably priced. It took about three minutes on each lock to program all three deadbolt key pads and working with the same key. Now, I can use the keypad or manually open all three locked doors in my home. I really like the features of these locks, anytime you feel the need the locks can be changed on my home in minutes.

I really like the features of these locks, anytime you feel the need the locks can be changed on my home in minutes.
The Kwikset smartcode deadbolt looks like a standard keypad deadbolt, but it's not, it's features are unique. A keypad for electronic operations, with an option to use one key to unlock all three doors in my home without going to the hardware store is fantastic. A few seconds on each programmable lock and your whole house works on the same key with the same or different access codes.
I will plan to purchase more of these locks in the near future.

Excellent Product Matchted to VERALITE

I bought this product with my VERALITE controller in June 2015. The product has as advertised and I have seen no battery drain. I must say the Vera controller and their FREE control web site are good. The VERA interface is a little clunky, but as you learn you way around, it is really good.
The one drawback on this product is the documentation is terrible. Using the VERA website identifies so many option that you do not see in the documentation for the loc. Example remote programing codes, time windows on codes, notifications of lock actions, etc.
! month in, I recommend this to someone who likes to tinker with technology. Not for a layman.
