Great product!

I bought this over a year ago. Works perfectly with my Iris home security system from Lowe's. Only issues I have had with it are; when i first linked it to my Iris hub it would not take it because Kwikset tests them before they package it and they did not reset it after so it can be linked to a new source. Second issue i have with it is the battery life should be longer in my opinion. In the approximately 12 months i have owned it i have replaced the 4 AA batteries twice already.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great lock--but has turned into battery monster

Have had the lock for about 2-3 years. Love the features and convenience. Only problem is over the past six months it will "kill" 4 AA batteries about every two weeks--will probably have to replace.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love this lock and connected to my Icontrol system

My wife and even little kids love this lock. We no longer take our keys. Furthermore, it is connected to my interactive home security system (powered by Icontrol Networks) so I can automatically disarm my system when I unlock the door via a rule I set up in my Icontrol system. Even my 4 and 6 year old kids know our code now to unlock the door. They do it before my wife and I get to the door with our arms typically full of bags.

Reliable Electronic Lock

This lock was very easy to install. I replaced a regular deadbolt lock with this electronic lock in less than an hour. It has worked reliably for a year now. I also like the feature on the inside of the house where the lock flashes green if the door is unlocked and red if the door is locked.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Keyless is King!

I live in Wisconsin, USA where cold winters are expected. The Kwikset keyless entry is awesome. No more fumbling for keys or taking off your gloves to dig into your pockets for the keys. I use rechargeable batteries and the Kwikset deadbolt doesn't drain them very quickly either. I'm not even sure if I change them once per year and it lets you know when it is time to swap them out before the batteries actually expire on you. I notice others stated a con is that the lights on the keypad don't activate until you press one. I actually prefer this feature as it saves on battery life. And the temporary key code is a real blessing. Give it to your neighbor who is watching the house for a week or a friend that is stopping by to get something later when you are not there to greet them. Nice. We did a lot of research leading up to which manufacturer and which model to choose and this particular Kwikset keyless deadbolt was our winner. Since the time of our original purchase a lot has changed and I'm looking forward to integrated smartphone technology. But if that is not necessary for you then this particular deadbolt is a great buy.

Very convenient vs. a standard deadbolt.

We installed the SmartCode deadbolt about a year ago. It is very convenient. I can go out without a key, lock up, then later reenter the house with no key, only the code. I do this all the time when walking our dog. I can come back to the house without fishing for keys by simply entering the code. I also like being able to push the key with the lock icon and have the keyboard light up at night.
We can also arrange for our dog to be walked by a neighbor without having to hand over a key. We simply give them a code number to use. There is no lost key problem to worry about.
The only negative we have found is that the lock seems to loosen up once in a while. To fix this, the lock needs to be disassembled and the base mechanism needs to be tightened up. This is very simple and only takes a few minutes to accomplish.
By the way, in a year we have not had to change batteries..

Lock mechanism doesn't last

I purchased 4 of these locks 2 to 3 years ago. At first they all worked great and I thought that I had really found the answer to keyless entry to our home. I have several people that need access to our home while we are away on vacation and keeping track of who has what keys is a hassle. Now 2 of the 4 locks have quit working...new batteries no help. I think that the gears or whatever have worn out. They really don't get that much use...maybe a couple times a week at the very most.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

great when we first got it

This was a great lock until electronics stopped working. Unfortunately it was after the warranty was up, a little over a year. Our only option miss to buy a new one. So it was not really a good value.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
