I bought an electronic lock which lasted 4 years before the keypad ceased making contact with the brain. The key pad consisted of rounded blister buttons which hardened. I contacted Kwikset and they sent a replacement. All I really needed was a new keypad; The new one was of much better quality due to being made of raised, sealed, rubber buttons. I changed just the key pad and was delighted that the lock worked well again. I hesitate to use the SMART KEY functiion as there has been problems with people locked out due to "rekey" not working properly.
A year previously I bought the same type for my cottage which "ate" batteries. 4 batteries would last 2 weeks. Kwikset quickly replaced it! I really like these locks as I can change the combination for cottage guests and also for home: Grandaughter, cleaning lady, neigbor watching house (vacation).

Works well...batteries need replacing often and lock is a bit sensitive if not lined up properly w the door...love the convenience of keyless!!!

We've had this lock for about 5 months now and we love it. No more fumbling for keys in the dark, no more worrying about a forgotten key. Punch in the code and you're in. Or, if you know you'll have your hands full, open the lock before you unload your car using your smartphone. LOVE IT.

We have had this product installed for several months and have been very pleased with the quality of this deadbolt. The finish, even in our very harsh Florida Keys environment, still looks like it came out of the box.

NO MORE KEYS I love not having to worry about keys. This is great for kids as they sometimes loose everything. They just have to use the code and they are in. Love the self locking feature after 30 secs. I also love the ability to put in a temporary code for cleaning people or workers. Never again will I use a conventional lock on any property I have. Burns through batteries, and the mechanics are unreliable. Easy enough to install, but not worth it.

Batteries in our SmartCode products should last as long as a year, it sounds like yours is running them out much faster than that.
