I received this Kwikset deadbolt as a Christmas gift from my brother who is into home automation and also owns this product. I installed this deadbolt and linked it up with a SmartThings home automation hub. I am very pleased with the the appearance, performance, and convenience provided. For example, now I'm able to arrive home with hands full of bags or whatever and my door will automatically be unlocked so I no longer need to fumble around with keys. When I leave the house the door will automatically lock if I've forgotten to lock it (locking this deadbolt is as easy as pushing the single button with the padlock icon on it). I did setup the keypad password and also used the my existing keys from the kwikset deadbolt I was replacing with this one to rekey my old key to this new deadbolt (both processes were surprisingly easy to do, although I never have to use my key or password due to the automation).
These next two points, I don't consider negatives but perhaps others might so I'll list them...
I would say the auto lock/unlock noise can be a bit loud and surprising if you're not use to it but honestly I like it because I can hear it and it alerts me to the door lock opening if someone else in my household arrives home.
The other cost I would say is this lock require battery power for keypad/auto lock capability, but that is expected and after 4 months of regular use my battery power is still 70%.
And of course there is the question of cost of purchasing this model versus another not so advanced, but for the convenience this has provided me in automation I'd say it's worth it!
Overall I'm very happy with this product.

I found this lock so easy to setup and use I purchased a second lock for the back door. I now have matching keys on both lock and it was super easy to do. Thank you Kwikset

Hard on Batteries

Overall we are happy with our Smartcode lock. We only have one and it paired with ease to our security system. The only downfall is it seems to go throw batteries quickly. The first time we had to change the batteries was only a few weeks after it was installed. Other than that, it has been quite responsive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the keyless entry

I purchased this smart code deadbolt for my back door in 2009 and LOVE not having to worry about having a key. Especially when I go for bike ride or walk the dog. I can give a code to others and change code after used without dealing with extra keys or worrying about getting the key back. "If" anything would go wrong with this smart code...I would buy another smart code immediately. In fact I did replace my garage door with a smart code lock with handle. Easy to install so I was able to do both myself.

Convenience and piece of mind

This is a wonderful lock considering a busy household with lots of comings and goings, without worry of loosing the key. Changing the code is easy. Having the option of a double code allows the family to use a "permanent" code while giving occasional access to trusted others on a code which is easily changed after the need changes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It took my awhile to get used to not using the key, but now love being able to quickly unlock/lock the door and not fumble for keys. Running around the block with my kid I don't even need to bring a key with me--it's rather freeing. I had an issue installing the first lock I bought and they quickly provided a new lock under warranty and install went smoothly. Re-keying the lock is a snap and programming the codes is also easy. The lock make a rather loud whirring sound when locking/unlocking which surprises people, so not good for a sneak entry if that's a need.
