We use these printers to produce labels with graphics and it is one of the best we have found. The color is true, crisp and vibrant. We have even spilled water on the labels and they have not smeared. I also use it to print photos and again I have not found a better printer. I currently own 3 of these printers.
I chose the 1400 for two reasons, it prints CD-DVD discs and it will handle all size photos. My old printer would only print 4x6 prints. It took a couple printings before I got my first test photo made-- my fault, didn't have the set-up according to insturction manual. I find the instruction manual very good, clear and precise with good quality photographs. The quality of the photos I printed are very good, but no better than my existing HP printer, but then I have always gotten good quality photos from that printer too. I was some what disappointed that the printer was not wireless, but that was only a minor inconventence.
I have had two of these printers. I bought my second one after the first died, but I was happy with it for the two years it lasted. My second one has now died, at least I cannot get it to print all colors. It is probably the print head, but I've cleaned it with no success. I don't use it regularly and it may sit for a month in between uses so I figure it probably clogs up and can't be cleaned. It may be better if it gets regular use.
I got this printer about 2 years ago. My trusty 1270 Epson inkjet printed its last- It had a long run & was a durable accurate printer for 9+ years. I am an artist and designer-& print lots of promos and small versions of my art work for cards and portfolios. The color blue is very important for an accurate rendition of my work. This PhotoStylus1440 printer does NOT do the job that my earlier 1270 did. There are NO variation of blues and they have skewed the colors for flesh tones-if you just print family photos that's OK- if you want to do your art- get another printer!!!!!
