Printer is quick and easy to use. Setup was simple. I did have to down load the Windows & install pack, but that was not trouble. I have printed several 13"x19" and every customer is very impressed with the quality. Even the B/W's are very nice. I am more than happy, between this printer and my Epson R280 I do very little out of shop prints.

Just the best and fastest printer I have used yet. I shoot interiors and deliver prints to architects and interior designers. The colors are accurate to whats on the monitor and it prints much faster than my 1280.

Best Ever

I've been a fan of Epson for a long time - even before the digital photography craze. (Would you believe a FX-80 still in regular use?). I progressed from a Stylus Photo 1200 to a Stylus Photo 2200 and now the Stylus Photo 1400. The 1400 is the best of the bunch! Color is beautiful - tonal transitions unbelievably smooth, reproduction of the original color of the subject is outstanding! Especially like the CD/DVD print capability. Good show, Epson!

The 1400 did well for 14 months and then the printer didn't recognize a new Epson replacement black cartridge when it prompted replacement and refused to print.
I purchased additional Epson genuine blacks.. and put another in that it would not identify. I purchased a third from another store and it wouldn't work either. A forth did.
I am now at the 18 month of use [ average about 15 sheets a week] and I am having the same problem with the same color.
I would have hoped the printer would have lasted longer.
I sometimes wonder if printers are programed to last only a few months after warrantees expire.

Disappointed in the 1440

Granted, I did not purchase the 1400 for use on my fine art photo prints. I needed an inexpensive medium quality printer for my fine art cards. I printed a run of 30 Christmas cards using the Red River Linen stock. The colors were inconsistent from card to card. After printing only 30 4x6 cards, I only have 1/8 of a cartridge of cyan ink left and the others are well below half. For my purposes and quality needs, I would not get another printer that uses Claria ink.
I'm no novice - I own and happily use Epson's 3800, (2) 2200 and a 1280 - all for different purposes. I print museum quality images and quite successful with my sales. The 1400 printer will now be used as a low end printer for my accounting paperwork.

The printer is awesome for printing but for me the head clogging and trying to clean them is bothersome, and expensive. When it is working the prints are awesome and no complaints with quality of printing just ink head issue.

I've been using the Photo Stylus 1400 for almost 2 weeks now and am very pleased with it's performance. I really like the print on cd/dvd feature, I've printed over a dozen dvd's. The results look very professional compared to the peel and stick labels I was using. Photos I have printed are very good using only the photo level instead of Photo Best. Some reviewers have complained about text mode being poor but I find text very acceptable. Draft mode text is very light but that should be expected. I would highly recommend this printer to friends. I contacted customer service on a rebate issue and it was resolved propmtly. The representative was very courteous and easy to understand.
My only con deals with the Epson Easy Photo Print software. I would like more options on the print layout feature or be able to set up custom sizes such as wallet size prints. This may be possible but I haven't found it yet.
