I just got this about a week ago, so, I haven't had the opportunity to try all the things it can do. The first thing I tried was the CD and DVD printing! That will be an important part of my business. That worked very well and allows me to print only what I need, which is exactly what I want. I'm going to print some brochures next as soon as I complete the design. After that's all set up I'll turn to the photographic part of the 1400. I'm looking forward to finding out everything this machine can do! Maybe I'll write another review in a few months.

The 1400 is a replacement on old 2200 model

The Epson model 1400 is a replacement for my older 2200 model. It's a lower cost wide format printer able to print 11x17 & 13x19 inch check plots. The 2200 was a work horse for many years, and had heave use. From the little time I have used the 1400 model it too should preform under heavy use. It has newer technology, and is more efficient use of ink with the plots.

Epson 1400 Printer

I chose the 1400 for two reasons, it prints CD-DVD discs and it will handle all size photos. My old printer would only print 4x6 prints. It took a couple printings before I got my first test photo made-- my fault, didn't have the set-up according to insturction manual. I find the instruction manual very good, clear and precise with good quality photographs. The quality of the photos I printed are very good, but no better than my existing HP printer, but then I have always gotten good quality photos from that printer too. I was some what disappointed that the printer was not wireless, but that was only a minor inconventence.

This is my second 1400. I don't expect any difference from the last one. The 1400 is one of the finest printers I have used and owned. I use mine to print t-shirt transfers. Though this is not a portable printer, I have transported it numreous times for on site jobs. It has served me excellently for over 2.5 years in various conditions.

The first print I did was a closeup of a flower that I had previosly printed on my Epson 2200. The difference is incredible!! The details, colors and feel of this print has no equal. This is by far the best bang for the buck printer made. I have 5 printers all serve a purpose, but the 1400 is beyond belief. anyone serious about Photography, needs the 1400. bassettib2 Phlorida Photos

Windows 7 and the 1400

This is my third 1400. I recently upgraded to Windows7 64bit. The printer printed but it was not the 1400 I had grown to love. I tried twice to install, again. And again. I finally reached a living breathing speaking Epsom tech support staff. She guided me properly through the install. The 1400 is working again, my tiny handmade fine art books, brochures and reproductions again look terrific. The inks are relatively expensive, but it all works out in the long run. Only use OEM cartridges.

I own two of the Epson Photo Stylus 1400. I have had one for 3-4 years, using it for individual prints for groups. I thought the first had failed, so I ordered a second. Before that arrived, I discovered the cause of the failure---it was me!
Old one still ticking right along. Newer one in storage just in case. It may be there for another few years. GREAT MACHINE!
