It's the best printer I've ever had!! It's so convienent to print at home and the best thing is it can print up to 13 " by 19" paper on this printer. I've this printer for more than 2 years and it's still in a excellent condition. It is trustable and color turns out accurate.
This printer is not for the designer. I rely on good quality comps to further my in-house design work. My old 1520 was great for that. But Epson did not produce a driver for Mac OS X, so I had to junk the 1520 and find a new wide-format to take its place. The Stylus Photo 1400 came the closest for the price, but immediately I noticed the blacks were no longer true neutrals but infused with cyan ink.
Rendition of color images is only fair. Text OK.
Also, the inks are way too expensive for the size/duration of the cartridges.
The 1400 replaced the Photo Stylus 960 which is still in use at the Museum that I volunteer time. They are both used strictly to print Titled/Pictures on DVD's. and CD's. The Epson Print CD Software is easily used and together with the printer they delivered excellent results. I wouldn't have any other Maker or Printer at this time. Thoroughly Satisfied. I also strictly use the Epson INK.
Very happy with this printer! Excellent quality up to 13x19. I no longer send my enlargements out. I can now print all my orders from my old "darkroom"! This printer has been a great addition to my photo business.
Will start off by saying had a little problem with the print cd program, but once i got the right drivers installed it fixed the problem. the large prints 13x19 blew me away the detail is unheard of, that it almost looks 3D. Great bang for the buck !!
I had an 1160 for about 10 years and I loved it. It was great but died on me. Replaced with the 1400 a year and a half ago. Been great except the yellow ink head must be clogged - it shows full but does not print. Wasted all my other ink trying to clean head. Even used alcohol and distilled water and still no print. In 10 years my 1160 never had this problem. The cost to repair it is rediculous. Would be nice if I could change the print head or resolve this problem without paying a fortune. Unusable now without the yellow. Need help.
