I have not had my printer very long and since buying it a friend told me about her problems with the printer not feeding the paper correctly. Just stopped on her during a job. Epson told her that the 1400 has trouble with lint building up and sent her a sheet to clean the computer. The only problem I have encounter so far is the printer takes more than one sheet at a time, one time jambed because it took four sheets at once. I am reserving judgment on the printer so will not recommend it to others until I have more time. It did a great printing job on the photos that I have done without the feeding problems.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

very easy to connect and setup. done a dozen or so 8x10's and got very good results using only the standard paper. runs very quiet. seems to be a very good photo printer for the price. so far very satisfied.

Great Printer

I've always been impressed with Epson printers and have used them since taking graphic design in college.
The 1400 Ink Jet Printer prints photo quality images easily, and the advanced print options are straight forward allowing you to easily understand and tweak whatever settings you feel the need to.
My co-worker and myself also use this printer to run off final drafts of jobs that we are sending to the print house to verify color and so far it's never steered us wrong in the 3+ years we've had the printer. You could say it's our pre-pre press check tool!
We also find it invaluable for printing final drafts of ads before we send our files to any magazines or other publishers.
If you are a smaller business, and want to make sure that your projects look their best whether printing them yourself on this printer or printing a final draft before you send your files on, you can't go wrong with this printer.
The only drawback that I could ever find is that there is no post-script driver for this printer via Epson. That may have changed, and it's really not a worry if you have the native application your printing out of (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) doing the color management as it's darn near spot on to a Pantone color book once the ink is dry!

I went from an Epson Photo Stylus 600. THe 1400 has a better DPI and a great paper selection to chose from. This printer is more silent than the 600. It is fast when it prints the 13" x 19" and a great picture at this size.

Great Printer

Over all I am pleased with the 1400. Before I bought it, I read reviews that said it printed a little dark. I find this to be true, but mostly, when people are in a photo. I am making the right printer settings. I lighten these photos and usually have to make a couple more adjustments because of it. My Epson R340 is better at getting "people photos" right, but I am about to pull the plug on it because of print head problems. Epson printers have always worked well for me and I am happy with this one.

I received my printer with anticipation! It connect easily but my disspointment came when it did not have the AB USB cable. In my small community it took a half day to find the cable. This was my only complaint, other wise I'm a happy camper. The operating instructions where easy to follow. Mal

A friend of mine has an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 Printer and when I saw what it could do, I knew I had to get one. I have only used it for a few days but already I am so glad that I bought one. The only problem is that Ritz won't be getting anymore of my business. I will be doing my own printing :-)

So far, so good

I just bought an Epson 1400 as a replacement for a 7-year-old 1280, after much debate between buying a 1400 or a 1900. As a graphic designer, I'm less concerned with amazing-quality photos and more with overall quality, especially smooth flat color and crisp type. I've only used it for a few prints so far, but the quality seems very good. A little streaky at first, but that cleared up after the first couple prints. Set up was easy & straightforward.
So, I like my 1400 so far -- I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
