I've been using Epson printers for the past 15 years and I'm always thrilled with the printouts! I've had this one for about a month and so far I have no complaints. It's quiet and reliable. The price was right. I'm a commercial humorous illustrator and need to do printing of my work often, so I can't accept anything less than the very best quality to show my work.
Have only had this printer for two days and only used it once. However, it performed just like I wanted. Was putting wedding pics onto a CD and wanted to print a beautiful label. The end result was beautiful.
Printer was easy to set up, even though I had to go online to get the proper drivers for Windows 7. I was disappointed that it did not come with the proper cable, but thank goodness Epson made that clear, so I was able to have one ready when it arrived.
Am looking forward to doing my special projects on this amazing printer.
The 1400 did well for 14 months and then the printer didn't recognize a new Epson replacement black cartridge when it prompted replacement and refused to print.
I purchased additional Epson genuine blacks.. and put another in that it would not identify. I purchased a third from another store and it wouldn't work either. A forth did.
I am now at the 18 month of use [ average about 15 sheets a week] and I am having the same problem with the same color.
I would have hoped the printer would have lasted longer.
I sometimes wonder if printers are programed to last only a few months after warrantees expire.
I bought it primarily to print 11x17 engineering drawings in my home consulting office. Lowest cost way I could find to have this capability. Nifty plusses include the CD/DVD direct label print utility AND of course, the real strong suit of this printer - incredibly vivid family photos to share, frame, etc.
My only possible concern is ink consumption rate and cost, but again, I don't expect to use it a lot so that isn't nearly as important as print quality to me.
Installation of software was flawless, but I wish there was an automatic driver update function - I hate having to go through long lists of updates trying to figure out what might apply.
Just purchased my first larger format printer. The ease with which it was set up was remarkable. The printing is amazing, colors are vibrant and see to jump from the paper. I am very happy with my new 1400 inkjet.
I was really upset when my Epson Stylus Photo 2200 was no longer working - after working really hard for me for years. (thank you for that!). I really like Epson products, but was a bit short on cash. I went with the Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and have been so pleasantly surprised. My photos print quicker and are so brilliant. This has been a good change for me.
