To get prints which would last longer then those from the 1280, I purchased a Photo Stylus 1400.
The biggest change noticed immediatly was the much
faster speed of the 1400. On the other hand, ink costs increased noticably on a per print basis.
The borderless printing continues to be a very desirable feature.
I am part of a photography cooperative which holds group exhibits with most members using glossy paper from a wide range of sources. The Epson print quality is more than just competitive.

Good for 12 x 12 scrapbooking

This printer is good for printing digital scrapbooking pages. The color and clarity are great. There are 2 down-sides: the cost of the ink and you have one choice for Epson 12 x 12 paper. If you want a glossy finish, you have to buy 13 x 19 sheets and then crop them. This can get expenses and is a pain.

A good overall printer. Fast printing speeds, very clear photo printing. Uses a minimal amount of ink in the testing cycle which is a real plus in an inkjet printer after running it through the head cleaning cycle. An extended warranty at the place of purchase is recommended, as injet printers can be tempermental.

Excellent printer with very good resolution. Large prints are beautiful and print fast and easily. Software is straightforward and easy to install. Ink is expensive but well worth it. Prints well with all types of Epson paper and is a pleasure to use. Epson did put a lot of thought into this printer and incorporated many advanced feautures

Epson Stylus Photo 1400

This printer is very easy to use and the printing is some of the best I have ever seen but you do have to have the right kind of paper. It will not take or print good photos on cheap or generic brand paper.

Epson Printers get better and better

The first printer I bought almost twenty years ago was an Epson. I bought it because the reviews said it was the easiest for a novice to set up and use and a neighbor who was a freelance graphics designer swore by them.
I am not so much a novice anymore, but I still love the ease of setting up and using Epson printers. This one has not disappointed me. Within a few minutes I had it set up and was printing borderless prints for myself and family. My previous Epson printer had one large color cartridge and I always wondered if I was throwing ink away. I was sure not all colors were being used at the same rate. I think I am really going to enjoy having the individual ink catridges for each color.
