Not so happy with this Epson 1400

At first, the printer performed admirably, except for the fact that I find out the hard way that Epson only
fills the initial ink cartridges half full. And, of course they run out of ink at different times, so you have to either keep a multi-cartridge replacement on hand, or drive to the computer supply store multiple times.
When ink jets clog, and you can be sure they do, the
only way of clearing them is to push lots of good ink
through the jets of each color, whether that particular
color is clogged - OR NOT! It won't just push ink through the one - or two that are clogged, it has to push ink through ALL! And, this ink is VERY expensive! If the ink doesn't clog, each cartridge seems to last a reasonable amount of time, but factor in it's ability to easily clog, you can go thru
a new cartridge in no time. Also, if one ink runs out, the printer locks up! Even if you just need a
black and white print. This printer becomes a boat anchor until that cartridge is replaced.

Epson Photo 1400

Have been using this photo printer for a couple of years now, and it is the best. The prints are clear, bright and sharp. Love it.... I have been using it for personal use in printing copies of studio pictures for scrapbooking, and for friends doing their scrapbooks. Couldn't do without it......
I think that it prints better than the retail store prints.

excellent quality from epson. Replaces my 8yr old 1290.Variable paper feeder guide very smooth, collapsible cover to paper feed very good to keep dust free. Ink replacement very simple. Images on gloss paper and 170gsm matt card double sided first class. If this lasts as long as the 1290 I will be an extremely satisfied customer.

I installed my Epson Stylus 1400 printer today and the results are just great. I had the R 1800 before and I don't see a difference in the quality of print.

Epson all the way

I am a professional photographer and use digital so i do most if not all of my own printing of my art work. Several years back i had heard some good reviews about epson printers and there ink quality so i invested in the epson stylus photo R200, i was amazed with the print quality. I had that printer until it did on me, at that point over the next year or two i tried various other printer brands and was never quite satisfied with the print quality. I was looking for a printer that would print larger than an 8x10 when i read some reviews about the Epson 1400. the price had come down a bit from what it had started at so i decided to invest in one, best choice i ever made. when this decides to kick the bucket i will get another epson, i will never switch to anything else.

Nice Printer

This is an excellent printer for printing large size (11x17 or larger) prints. Main drawback is the overpriced ink. I would recommend the printer but not the OEM ink.
Epson will probably delet this, but who cares?

The 1400 is a great little printer to print photos, brochures, photo books, etc. I particulary love the ability to print on CD & DVD disks. That actually was the feature that lead me to the 1400. Slick method of printing them, not kludgey at all.

Easy Set Up and Gorgeous Photos!

My old printer died and I was on a deadline. I remember my last experience installing a large format printer and it wasn't a happy one. I researched the web for the best large format printer and Epson got top ratings. I called local stores for availability and Staples had a Stylus 1400. It was even on sale! It was 2:30 in the afternoon when we set off to the store. Working together, my husband and I were able to install the printer in 15 minutes. I did have to download the Windows 7, 64 bit software from the Epson site. Also, it is huge, so we had to find a good spot for it, which required a 16 foot USB cord. Well, working quickly to get my photos printed for competition, we didn't even bother with a test page. My husband was so impressed that he told me I should reprint all my photos. Excellent print quality, even with a 16 foot cord. Feeding paper from the top makes so much sense. I made the 5 PM deadline with time to spare. Thank you Epson for an economical and quality product.
