Just what I wanted...

Wanted counter-depth, french doors & black. Thought it had filtered water, but it doesn't, ok by me. Previous fridge was icky in the dispenser and hard to clean. Looks just right in my kitchen.

Almost perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my refrigerator for 3 weeks. So far it's good. This frig cools down fast and runs so quietly! It looks great and I like that it is not jutting out in my kitchen like a full depth refrigerator does. The controls are easy to use and read. I am not using the icemaker or water feature so I can't comment on those except to say I wish I could remove the ice maker - dead space. I find that wire baskets are needed for the freezer to more easily get to items in the bottom. GE would do well to offer stacking baskets. Unfortunately the soda holder is a waste of space in a frig that needs to be efficient in space usage. Bottom line, I would recommend this refrigerator.

Practical and simple

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This frig is great with all the space and the customizable shelving system. My one complaint is that the doors don't close without conscious effort. When we first bought this product, the door alarm would go off several times a day simply because when we closed it, we didn't follow through and push it the last inch.
Other than that one flaw, and one that I'm sure we'll learn to deal with over time, we love our new refrigerator.

Beautiful Looking

I am very pleased with the look.
The black doors do not show any finger prints so it always looks great.
It does take some getting used to for storing your food items and I am still trying to figure out the correct temperature control.

Stylish addition to the kitchen, works well. However, I find the vegetable crisper drawers too small and wish the deli/cheese tray had been designed in dual sections. Annoying to have to open both doors to retrieve one side.

Good Alternative for a Small Space

We wanted a built-in look and were able to accomplish that with this counter-depth refrigerator. Without a water dispenser, the refrigerator section has more storage than others we looked at. Nice adjustable shelves. The freezer section is less practical but has a great ice maker. The surface has scratched quite a bit despite following GE's cleaning instructions explicitly.

fits nicely in our kitchen

We have had our new unit for about 9 months. I love that it is counter-depth. We got a model without ice maker, because people felt they lost too much space. We went from a freezer-on-top model and have found that the fridge has almost the same capacity. The freezer, however is much smaller, since 1) it is counter depth, and 2) the space needed for the motor is cut out of the freezer space. We wound up getting a 'dorm-size' mini-freezer to meet our needs. Our main complaint about the fridge space is that the crisper drawers are quite shallow. Bags of produce need to stored loose; large items like canteloupe or lettuce head cannot fit in drawer at all. We just go to the store more frequently.
