The lid is poorly constructed and the cap displaces when one tried to remove the lid. The single unit construction of the blade and gasket is also inferior - I prefer to be able to clean those part separately to ensure food safety.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This blender can do more than just make a smoothie. We have shredded veggies (brussel sprouts, peppers) in it and it doesn't turn them to mush. It does, however, make a great smoothie and you can put all the ingredients at once unlike our old blender where you had to blend each ingredient singlely. I didn't get it an excellent because in the middle of making a banana, strawberry and pineapple smoothie the blades separated from the base of the pitcher, allowing the liquid to seep out the bottom of the pitcher. There was no way to tighten it. We had only used the blender a half dozen times at this point. KitchenAid is sending us a new pitcher but it's been over 2wks now i can't make my morning smoothie.
Pros: Easy To Clean, easy to use
Cons: product failure after limited use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I have KitchenAid appliances throughout my kitchen I wanted to continue with this blender. Using hard refrigerator ice from the ice maker is not a problem in my smoothies. I make homemade salad dressings and they stay emulsified. It is a little noisy but I expected this with the hard ice mentioned above. The blender is very sturdy and does not vibrate at all even using the liquefy speed. I am very satisfied and will purchase future appliances of this type from KitchenAid.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this blender. It is great for smoothies and can even destroy flax seed! It also looks beautiful. Although I like that the blades are attached and there aren't several different pieces, it can be difficult to clean underneath the blades. A special brush designed to get under the blades would be helpful.
