a good overall camera

I upgraded from an XT (which was an upgrade from the film version of the Rebel 2000), and I have not been disappointed on the whole. In automatic modes, there are exposure issues, except for the rapid frame sports mode. However, if you are interested in only using auto modes then you don;t need to buy this camera. If you use the program mode or the manual mode, you will not be disappointed.
I combine the camera with the 580 EX strobe and the 18-85 EFS image stabilization lens and I have no complaints. The quality is consistently good. the only limitation with this camera is the person using it. Believe it has every capability of taking professional quality shots. I have been using the camera now for two years, the flash for one year and the lens for about eight months.

Finest Camera I have Ever Owned
on December 27, 2008

I already owned the original EOS Rebel which I purchased to replace my original Canon EOS 35mm Camera. I now use both the Rebel and the Rebel XTI.
I use XTI Primarily for my nature and scenic photography,
I use the Rebel for my rough and tumble trail work.
The speed of the Xti makes it much better for use in difficult shooting situations like fireworks shows where long exposures, and fast cycle times are most important.
Pros: image quality, focus speed, cycle time, memory capacity
Cons: smaller body is not as comfortable to hold.

Solid Camera

I have owned this camera for over two years now, and I am looking to upgrade it. It has kept its cash value pretty well. The problem that I am having is that I do not need to buy another camera. I just need to get new lenses for this camera to upgrade it. It is a wonderful problem to have. This camera has been used to take pictures of my four children and several weddings.
The only bad thing about this camera is that the flash takes awhile to "reload" in between pictures.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, quiet, Quick Start-up time, good battery life

Awesome camera!

This is one awesome camera. I have been using my XTi for almost 2 years now and I love it. It has a nice "heavy" well-built feel to it, even though it is easy to carry and handle. I also have the T1i and I always seem to go back to my XTi for wildlife photos. My only wish is that it took a few more FPS than 3, but for the quality of the photos I get, I can live with the one or two small setbacks this camera has vs. some of the newer Canon's out there.
I would recommend shooting in RAW format with this camera as it allows you to customize your shots so much better than letting the camera make it's own Jpegs. Also, don't be afraid to give this camera some really good glass. It really makes a difference in the final image quality. This thing takes very sharp photos. I also recommend getting the BG-E3 battery grip. Well worth the money and makes your camera even that much more versatile. Also the additional grip area makes the nice to hold esp., when you have on larger zoom lenses like the 70-300 IS USM.
I can spend the day taking upwards of 400-700 shots without worrying about battery life. If you are using the on-board flash, I recommend one of the Speedlite flashes. Lots of on-board flash use can kill any digital camera's batteries.
If you have one of these, keep it. If you ever get the change to grab on up at a sweet price, buy it! You won't regret adding this camera to your arsenal. It is built like a tank and consistantly produce awesome photos!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

This Camera is the best for me after many years of 35mm and now moving into the digital world. I started with many lower meg rating and never found much quality just problems.

Great entry-level camera

This is my third Canon Rebel series camera and each one gets better. The camera is as simple to use as a point and shoot, but allows you to grow as your knowledge and experience with photography increase. I've used the camera for around two years with great results, and am just beginning to explore the more advanced options. It's met all of my family scrapbooking needs and is now allowing me to experiment with more artistic applications.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life

Have used this camera for a little over a year now. Really great camera. Be sure you're using a fast enough speed with a zoom lens, otherwise you'll be sure to have blurry photos. With a 300 zoom, the effective focal length is 460, so anything slower than 1/500 second needs a tripod. Anything faster, a tripod will still help clear up your photos.
Fast cycle time, I can wander along a trail, then if I need to shoot something, I can pull up the camera and shoot in seconds. partially depressing the shutter button brings it back to life and focuses fairly quickly. If you turn the camera off, it does take 3 or 4 seconds to turn on and get to the point of being able to focus.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use

My husband purchased this for me over 2 years ago. He knew that I lke taking pictures but wanted great quality. I searched this camera out in terms of what I was looking for and found the EOS. I started using it and getting my pictures I felt this was a good quality product for the price and I have stuck with it every since. Now that i am more familiar with the camera I want to buy more lens and other accessories to do more things with it
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
