Does not do the job

I have spent the past three days on line chat trying to get this machine to do multiple photo scans. I have tried version 9 and 13, on two different computers, with two different operating systems, and none of the scans are satisfactory although every scan is different. You never know what it is going to do. It may crop one picture out of 4, 2, 3. It may send one, 2 3, or none of the pictures to file. It is completely unsatisfactory and does not do as it is advertised. I will be contacting HP for return instructions. Completely dissatisfied.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed to see the software supplied is for XP only. Vista OS will not allow you to load it.

This is the second scanner delivered by HP. The first one was defective. This one is very difficult to set up. It takes hours to set it up. After getting it to work then it scans very very very sloowwly. A terrible product. I woul not recommend anyone to buy this device.

The CD that came with the scanner froze up. The software down load didn't load. Looked at forums, tried a bunch of their suggestions. No joy.One said I should use it as a paper weight.
I will be needing a new pc, so will wait awhile. Maybe it will work then.

Good performance for the price

I purchased this to scan film based x-rays for a dental office. The software could have more selections for the image being scanned as sometimes when it scans a large panoramic film, it thinks it is several smaller images and creates crop boxes around the lighter areas. I have to delete all but one and then expand the box and then it takes the whole image.
Also, when I open it from the dental image management software, it will first automatically scan it as a photo, then I have to manually set it to film positive and rescan. There maybe a way to set a default to that but haven't figured it out yet.
For the price it does what I need, but it could be more convenient.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Caption labelling

I find the product very good scanner; however, HP needs to adopt an IPTC/XMP
labelling standard. I spent a day scanning and labelling pix only to find that the caption was not included when emailed the pix or sent via dropbox. This problem needs to be disclosed in the information. I feel that there should be more documentation sent with product.

I had to go back to pix and right click on each one and then to details to imbed caption so that it would go with pix.
Today is a new world and HP needs to make fully compatible with Windows 7. I was told that it would have worked with Outlook Express but not Windows Live. I have not been able to see if that is true.

Great Buy

This scanner is a super addition to my home office. I love to be able to scan paperwork and all pages placed into one pdf file. HP makes it so easy to buy online and they have the fastest delivery.
