Exceeds my expectations!!!

This scanner is easy to use. The clarity is excellent. I've used it for color photos, black/white drawings, and PDF files, with great results for all!

I have used the G4050 Scanner to transfer photos & slides to my PC & all has worked fine so far. It's a good product & I have no complaints.

Old technology

The G4050 is an adequate flatbed scanner for home use, but it has been on the market for at least 3 years. Seems odd that all sorts of other technologies have forged ahead, but scanning hardware and software have not improved. I was forced buy an HP scanner to prevent driver conflicts with the other HP IPG devices now on my system. I was satisfied with performance of my 3970 but HP declined to keep the software current with Windows, so I had to buy the 4050.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Compact and very efficient unit, does what you would expect from more expensive units. The built-in program is quite versatile although at times it can be a bit confusing. The quality of the output is extremely satisfactory. The controls on the cover are easy to use. In general a great buy for the money... I recommended...

Fast, Clear, Nice Software

Used to scan boxes of 35mm color slides and dozens of std. size photographs. Unit scans quickly, clearly, and included software is quite nice. Price point is perfect for our use; price from the HP online store is extremely competitive. Software in parts is less than intuitive and could use some tweak to UI. Overall very pleased. Delivery from HP was quick.

I needed a scanner to archive a lot of family photos and this scanner is a real time saver. It performs perfectly with my Adobe Photo Elements software and was able to scan multiple pictures of various sizes on the glass at one time. This alone saved me so much time. Most of the time the scanner was able to select the photos without adjusting the selection frames. I am so glad I bought this scanner.
