Great Camera!

Bought this about 6 months ago as a camera that can fit in a pocket that can communicate with my phone easily with a zoom lens.
Once you get past how the camera operates (Takes a few pics ) you appreciate how zooming an shooting can be done with one hand in a lot of different positions. The tilting screen is nice feature for above the head or below the waist shots and the macro on the lens makes closeup photography really cool I can get within 1/2" of most things. The image stabilization on the camera does a very good job in lower light situations and the chip is not that nosiy comapared to a camera phone or other device in the category. Zooming works well and even the digital zoom mode does a decent job. Connecting to the phone is an OK app would like to see bluetooth instead of wi-fi but I know transfer speeds would lower but for sharing lower images would be adequate.
Other features I would like to see would be a panoramic mode, bluetooth, a real flash not LED with redeye reduction.
As with all the cannon products I have owend this top quality all metal no cheap plastic and is a great companion to a cell phone because of the size and functionality.

My thoughts

12.1 megapixels is MORE than ANY point and shoot NEEDS. Because of this, the pictures are much cleaner/noise free. You don't see noticeable grain till you get to 1600 and above ISO.
THE GOOD: nice clean sharp pictures. 1280 x 720 video. The ability to touch the screen to take a picture or....turn that off so you can touch the screen to focus on what YOU want to focus on. It's small. Easy to use once you adapt to the shutter/zoom placement. I like the 16:9 ratio in the "P" mode. It's 9 megapixels. Again, All you need.
NOT SO GOOD: full HD at 24fps. Too slow. Battery life. Indoor pictures in a well lit room defaults too 1600 iso. Why? Indoors, in a well lit room, should be no higher than maybe 400 iso. Never had 1600 indoors ever.
It's a nice little camera. Picture quality is VERY good. I don't use the wifi. It's the right amount of megapixels for a point and shoot.
It's nice to see lower megapixels, and more is NOT better. With more megapixels, you can print H U G E pictures. How many of us do that?

We have this camera for two years. We love it very much. Small, compact, very well made (strong and high quality materials) and does its job well. Awesome video, very high-quality images, easy file transfer. The only drawback is the short battery life, but we bought in advance, two replacement batteries, so it's definitely not a problem for us.

Screen Movement is Limited
on December 25, 2015

WARNING: This camera will not work for selfies. The screen only tilts 90 degrees. Canon really missed the boat here. Why would you engineer a movable screen and then limit it to 90 degrees so you can't see yourself when shooting?

big mistake

I purchased this camera thinking that Cannon had a good reputation and I would be pleased with this product. I found that the buttons to operate the camera are so small that I cannot control them with my finger tips. I have to use my fingernail and look for the button each time I want to use it. It is too small to handle without getting your fingers in the way and very hard to hang on to. The pictures it takes are good, but I missed many photo opportunities due to my fumbling around to control the camera. I would return it if I was still in the area I bought it in. I do not recommend this camera and am thinking of returning it to Cannon. Lesson learned, do not buy on the fly.

1 Design -not designed for selfie
2.Very short battery life .Only able to take 20 shots on full charge
Suggestion
1.If screen can be rotated to 180 degree

Great little pocket camera

I've had this camera for about three years and it's my favorite pocket camera ever.
The screen is actually perfect, just pull it up 90 degrees and for have a perfect shooting angle, just look down, frame your shot and shoot.
It also has a great touch screen for when you're looking for a different angle, just touch the screen where you want it to focus and you get great results. Brilliant little camera! i bought a second one for my wife and she loves it as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!
