I purchased this for my wife but actually the kids have used it more to power back up their iPods, great product.

This Switch 8 is a small, pocket rocket of power that charges a cell without much weight in your gear.

I take a 1 hour bus commute one way each day. I have used my charger to keep my phone going on many trips. I never need to worry about draining all of my power while watching a movie or listening to music.
Got one for Christmas, and two more for my birthday. I hike often and like to track my hikes with gps on my iPhone, a real battery drainer. I can go all day without worry and keep my GoPro charged as well.

I got my switch 8 a few weeks ago and while I'm impressed with some of the design features and the weight mine never charges above 25% no matter what method I use to try and charge it up.
I use the Switch 8 while bikepacking to capture extra current from my dynamo hub, which I use to keep GPS and other devices going. Hookup is dynamo>switch 8>devices, so I need the ability to charge a device while the Switch 8 itself is getting current (pass-through). Many devices don't have this. Also very glad to have the blue LEDs that indicate how charged the battery is. My only hesitation is that the output USB port is hinged (nice) but on a pin that doesn't seem especially robust. Time will tell.

Got a Dud

I bought a backpacking solar panel and a switch 8 battery for a backpacking trip through Torres Del Paine in South America. My plan was to use the panels and battery to keep my GoPro fully charged during the trip so I could record over the 10 days. For a few days, everything worked great and I had no trouble. However, on the 4th day, my switch 8 randomly stopped charging any devices. It was able to charge from the panels as I could see the lights indicating flashing, but for some reason it would not give out any charge to external devices. Pretty much ruined my plan for recording the entire trip. Was able to get some of the trip by directly charging whichever GoPro battery I was not currently using with the solar panel, but needless to say it was a pretty bad experience for me. Not sure if I just got a dud that stopped working after 4-5 days, but if you are planning on using external batteries to keep devices charged while backpacking/doing other activities where you will be away from outlets, make sure you don't 100% rely on this battery in case something like what happened to me happens to you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wouldn't charge my phone from empty beyond 60%, and has now refused to charge. Complete and utter turkey
