Easy to install and program, but it developed severe corrosion since the last battery change. The numeric buttons stopped responding button press. Can see corrosion on battery caddy, the back bracket, and on circuit board (parts on interior side of house).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We absolutely love this keyless lock. It was easy to install we did not change the keys. It works quick and easy and you can get in your house without having to have your keys and you had don’t have to look for them and if your hands are loaded with groceries you can just use your index finger to get in

Great lock when works, unreliable so keep your key

Bought this lock about a year and a half ago and it was working fine. I convinced my neighbor to get one as well and I did the install for them. When testing their lock, it made a weird motorized sound and then I realized the battery pack had melted completely. Everything was installed perfectly so we returned the lock for a new one. All has been fine since.
My lock batteries died a couple months ago so I replaced them. Today when leaving the house, my lock died. I checked and the battery light was on so I replaced them, even though it had only been a couple months. The battery light was still on so I checked and there was corrosion that was preventing the lock from working. So now my lock is broken and I have to use the key until I figure out what to do next.
The lock is great when it works but it is unreliable in my experience. I am glad I had my key on me or I would have been locked out of my house. No happy with the experience and very frustrated overall.

Good Luck

Professionally installed by my builder's security subcontractor last year. Works great when it's working, but good luck when it's time to change the batteries. Followed the user manual exactly in the MULTIPLE INTRICATE steps required to reset and re-oriente the lock and add/delet/reset codes and it won't work. A rubik's cube is simplier. Calling a locksmith Monday, probably going to throw it in the trash and get a simple fool proof manual deadbolt. Another example of how technology only complicates our lives.

Only one year

Bought this one year ago, and needed to change out the batteries. Once done, could not get the code to work, so I called the 800 and the person seemed "Put out" that she had to help me. Finally she said must be broken, you have to get a new one. I told her hard to believe that it was working fine until I had to replace the batteries. She then just said is there anything further I can help you with.

Hello BrentTx,
We're sorry to hear about your experience and are here to help you. Your lock might be jamming and here are the steps to fix this:
Try a new set of alkaline batteries, check your door alignment, and that the door frame hole is at least 1 inch deep. Then perform the manual door handing process: 1. Open the door and extend the latch to the locked position. 2. Remove the battery pack. 3. Press and HOLD the Lock button while reinserting the battery pack. Release button once the battery pack is installed. 4. The latch bolt will retract about halfway in and then extend to learn the orientation of the door. Should you need additional assistance with your lock's warranty, please contact us through our online portal: https://www.kwikset.com/support/ask-a-question

Worked great for a few years.

Worked great for years. Now the deadbolt cannot be fully turned to the unlock position without wrestling with the lever. When the door is finally open the deadbolt only partially extends. It will not lock without the key or the inside lever. New batteries did not help. Took it off of the door, using the key, the deadbolt works perfectly. Gears are fine, must be the motor. Was going to just replace it, but now I find out that it has been discontinued. Sadly we have three of these. So, I guessing, since they are all keyed alike, we'll have to call locksmith out to replace them all. I'm sure Spectrum Brands planned the obsolesce. Funny thing, this is for a door to the back porch, we often use the inside lever to lock and unlock the door.

Hello Chillerman,
We're happy to help resolve this! Please ensure the lock is fully installed on the door and follow the Door Handing Process with a new set of batteries. This will recalibrate the latch electronically: https://youtu.be/VdAMO8m5QU8
