No longer heating food

We purchased this product in 12/2009 and here it is 8/2013 and this microwave no longer heats food. They just don't make things like they use to! This microwave is load when heating and even loader when the fan is on even at its lowest setting. Guess this was bound to happen; noticed about year and a half ago that it was taking twice as long to reheat food. Do yourself a favor and save the headache;if u see this item on the market run the other way.

Stopped Working After Only 4 1/2 Years

I am not happy that the GE Spacemaker Microwave Oven installed over my oven stopped working after only 4 years and 6 months. The first GE Microwave installed over my range lasted 7 years before it died. Is this normal for GE Microwaves?

Not reliable microwave

Bought new 4 yrs ago. Had to replace control panel 2 times. Had to replace microwave plastic protector once. Finally die last week.

Works pretty well some problems

Have had this unit for about 12 yrs. Only complaint is that about 3 yrs ago a few of the "buttons" lost touch sensitivity and no longer function. Specifically the 1,2 and am/pm buttons.

Premature failure

Never had a microwave fail until this one. After a few years it started randomly turning on and then beeping with an error message of control panel short. A Google search showed this was common and that you can sometimes fix it by taking off the panel from the microwave and putting it back on. That fixed it for about a week and then it started again. This was a little while after our GE refrigerator sprung a leak. GE doesn't seem the be the company it once was.

The product looks nice and performs well but doesn't last

Expected it to last longer than 3 years for the money. It was manufactured 12/07. We purchased it in 2008 and the electrical touch pad started to die in 2010 and finally completed the death in 2012. Unfortunate because it was a nice microwave.

GE used to make quality products

Only three years old, used sparingly, key pad doesn't work, so unit doesn't function.
cheaper to buy another new one than fix, pretty sad. Ovens and washer and dryer bought at the same time are just as poor....

Keyboard shorted

Keyboard shorted after 4 years and it costs a bundle to repair. My other microwave is 32 years old and still works fine. It is not a GE.
