The washer and dryer do not last. The washer quit first because a bearing went out. Then our dryer caught on fire which is a huge concern!! Luckily it was a small fire and didn’t burn the house down or kill us all. Very disappointed in the quality of these. We went back into our 90’s topload washing machine and that somehow still works better than these.

Almost caught on fire

We obtained the u it via a home purchase. The unit worked fine but one morning a burning smell was found and we found the upper control panel smoldering. It appears the circuit board overheated and possible melted wire insulation leading to a small electrical fire.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DANGER! DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER GE PRODUCTS

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANY GE APPLIANCES! I noticed a burning smell coming from the dryer and that the clothes weren't drying very well. While checking it out I BURNED MYSELF while touching the top of the dryer! I noticed some smoke coming out of the control panel. I unplugged the dryer and removed the control panel to investigate. Low and behold the control board had spontaneously CAUGHT FIRE and melted some components on the board. Unfortunately I can also see that I am not the only one that has had this issue. This is a major safety risk and lapse in quality. DO NOT TRUST GE PRODUCTS IN YOUR HOME. If this made it's way out of the factory who knows what else did...

Electrical short / fire from Control Panel

Last night 6/27/24 while the dryer was running, I heard crackling sounds and smelled burning plastic. I immediately tried to shut it off and it didn’t work. I open the door and it stopped. However, the smoke continued and the smell was awful. I was finally able to unplug the dryer and removed the control panel/cover to find melted plastic, connectors and the start/ pause switch appeared to be the cause of the failure. I have not contacted customer service.

Dryer smoking and control panel connectors melted

Today Sept 21 2024 the dryer started smoking and when I unplugged it and looked for the source of the smoke, the plastic connectors beneath the control panel were scorched and melted which was concerning. I have not called customer service yet
