Just installed new GE front loading dryer. It is a BIG MACHINE compared to the one it replaced, in both drum capacity and physical size. This is partly because of the built in pedestal base, but that base raises the access door to a more comfortable height for my wife to use. Dryer is relatively quiet and does a good job. Control panel is attractive and user-friendly and offers plenty of built in cycles and other features. We had great success with GE dryer a few years ago, now we're glad to be back to the brand.

Steam Is the Best

The option to steam freshen clothes eliminates the need for ironing. The unit is quite large, though.

Throughout the years I have always been impressed with GE products, I have a GE fridge, GE microwave GE Double oven, GE Freezer and now a GE Washer and Dryer.

We bought this dryer with our new home purchase and very much enjoy the features it offers, its drying capabilities as well as it coming with it's own raised base that didn't have to be purchased separately.

Ouch! And Dangerous!

I was incredibly pleased with this dryer for the first year of ownership. However, all that is erased by the seemingly inferior composition of the drum metal. The edge of the drum has disintegrated in a section, leaving a gaping hole that sucks clothes down toward the heating element. If not for a pair of pants being left hanging through, we likely wouldn't have even known until something caught fire! So here we sit, with a family of seven's worth of laundry drip-drying...and the looming expense of a new dryer hanging over our heads.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
