I love how this looks installed. ( I even picked the same one out for my mom.) But there are several things issues recently. The filters are supposed to be dishwasher safe, but ever since I ran mine in the dishwasher, they haven't fit right and the clips pop off. One of the lights just went out and the bulbs were extremely difficult to access and change. The clip did not want to go back in and then the filter popped out and the clip broke. I have emailed GE and am waiting to hear back if they will send me replacement filters. I recommend only handwashing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very good hood - adequate features

Very good hood. Very adequate, friendly controls. Exhaust good with minimal fan noise - that's great. SS finish quality very good.
Filter access good, easy to remove, can use improvement for reinstallation.

The hood was extremely expensive and the quality was not there..
Very cheaply made from the non functional vent accessory parts to the replacement work lights not
easily installed!!

Will fourth time be the charm?

Hood 1: Opened it up, it was severely blemished, straight out of the box. We’re talking seriously ugly. Factory problem. Appliance store said “no problem”, we’ll replace it.
Hood 2: Looked great out of the box. Looked great on the wall. Turned it on—it makes a terrible high-pitched chirping sound you can hear from a long distance. Called for service. Service tech said “need to replace the motor”, or since it’s brand new, appliance store said you can order another one. Ok.
Hood 3: another one blemished straight out of the box. What on earth is going on in this factory? Do they have no quality control?
So the saga continues...we are waiting on unit 4. Very frustrating.
On the plus side, the one I have now looks nice, and it seems to function fine without excessive fan noise (other than the aforementioned high-pitched chirp). Lights do a good job illuminating the cooktop (though I would prefer LEDs to halogens).
My ratings are for unit 2, which is on my wall while I await unit 4.

I like the color and my other slate appliances (fridge and DW) were pristine.
