This scanner is the best scanner I have had to date. It scans slides, negatives and prints with accuracy and when I need really good resolution I can change a setting to meet my requirement. It works seamlessly with Photoshop and has met all my expectations.

good improvement from previous epson scanners

I am very happy so far with the 700. I have been scanning 120mm bw negatives and there is a great improvement from my previous epson scanner. Finally it is easier to get the negs flat on the scanner, therefore rendering the grain and sharpness much better. Speed is really useful too.
I also like the fact that now I can scan contact sheets.
I wish the film holders were a bit less plasticky, though. I am a bit concerned they won't last too long.

V700 Scanner

A nice product with a lot of power to scan high resolution images and film. The film holders are good and sturdy but the film area guide is unnecessarily flimsy. I bought it specifically for large format negatives and it fits the need nicely. However, I was hoping for better options for 16 mm film scanning.

So far so good.
Just got it a week ago. Have not figured out how to do anything yet other than fully automatic scanning of slides. I love being able to scan 12 slides at a time. I have even ordered a couple of extra slide trays so that I can re-load while another batch is scanning.
I will eventually lean how to manually scan individual slides to gain the highest quality. However, my initial observation is that it is a wonderful tool.
Regards,
Doug

good scanner, but...

the V700 is a good scanner, except for the premade holder to hold your film. They are not the best quality and it can be a real challenge to get them the right distance from the glass for a truly sharp scan.
Shadow and highlight detail is very lovely with this machine.

I use it mainly to scan color negatives and photos. It does all it is supposed to do and quickly too. The negatives are scanned much faster than the other scanner I have by a different company. The transparency holders are easy to use. It has a light going on the lid showing just where it is on the job which is nice.

Epson Perfecrtion V700 Scanner

I also made the mistake of buying a cheapo scanner from from another company which would scan only three slides at a time. It took me a week to scan one reel of slides. The cheapo scanner constantly froze due to software incompatibility (it used corel software and I wanted it to use my Adobe software) or mechanical error (I believe the drive belt did not retract fully after each scan and it would identify the belt as a piece of paper on the glass). I would constantly get one set of 3 slides then have to reboot to get it to scan the next set I ditched it a week later and bought Epson's V700 scanner. Love it! I ordered the scanner through Epson and it arrived a couple of days later by fedex. Even though I had not read the instructions, Epson's V700 was up and running as soon as scanner and software were attached and loaded. The scanner scans 12 slides at a time quickly and quietly. I am able to crop and enhance my old slides before they even get to my Adobe software. I am soooo glad I ditched the cheapo "V" company scanner and bought this Epson V700 scanner. For me and my 20 reels of slides, it is perfect! Can't wait to go through the photo albums next!

Great Scanner!

I have been using the V700 to scan a combination of 35mm slides, both mounted in 2x2 cardboard mounts, and unmounted in strips, and 35mm color negatives, and have had nothing but great results. I also scan 6x7 unmounted slides, and the results are breathtaking, with excellent color accuracy and rendition, and perfect detail. It's also a lot cheaper than buying a dedicated slide scanner and autofeeder that can do all these things.
Sometimes I have to scan documents, and the availability of and ADF add-on would have been nice.
